House U08 Division Rules of Play

Law 1 – The Field of Play

Field Markings: Conform to FIFA except that the center circle will be five (5) yards in radius.

Dimensions: Length: 40 yards; Width: 26 yards

The Goal Area: Defined at each end of the field as follows: two lines drawn at right angles to the goal line eight (8) yards from the center of the goal, extending into the field of play for a distance of four (4) yards, and joined by a line drawn parallel to the goal line.

The Penalty Area: none

Goals: Dimensions: 18 feet wide by 6 feet tall.

Law 2 – The Ball

Standard size three (3) ball will be used.

Law 3 – The Number of Players

Players: A match is played between two teams, each consisting of not more than four players. There are no goalkeepers.

Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions may be made.

Substitution procedure: At any stoppage of play.

Law 4 – The Players’ Equipment

Conform to FIFA

Law 5 – The Referee

Coaches, other league officials, or parents may be used. Infringements shall be briefly explained to the offending player.

Law 6 – The Assistant Referees

None.

Law 7 – The Duration of the Match

The match lasts two equal periods of 25 minutes.  There shall be a five-minute half-time interval.

Law 8 – The Start and Restart of Play

Conform to FIFA, except that at kick-off opponents are to be at least five (5) yards from the ball until it is in play.

Law 9 – The Ball In and Out of Play

Conform to FIFA.

Law 10 – The Method of Scoring

Conform to FIFA.

Law 11 – Offside

None.

Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct

Conform to FIFA, except that no cards are shown for misconduct. Players may be asked to take a break to cool off if they are over-excited or too aggressive. Sliding tackles are not allowed.

Law 13 – Free Kicks

Conform to FIFA, except that all free kicks are direct and opponents must be at least five (5) yards from the ball until it is in play.

Law 14 – The Penalty Kick

None.

Law 15 – The Throw-in

Conform to FIFA, except that when correct procedure is not followed, a player will be given an opportunity to correct the throw. The number of retries is at the discretion of the referee. A kick-in may be used in place of the throw-in, depending on the abilities of the player, and the method of restart is at the discretion of the coach. Kick-ins are considered as direct free kicks.

Law 16 – The Goal Kick

Conform to FIFA, except that players must be outside the goal area and at least five (5) yards from the ball until it is in play.

Law 17 – The Corner Kick

Conform to FIFA, except opposing players must be five (5) yards from the ball until it is in play.
