Law 1 – The Field of Play
Field Markings: Conform to FIFA except that the center circle will be eight (8) yards in radius.
Dimensions: Length: 60 yards; Width: 40 yards
The Goal Area: Defined at each end of the field as follows: two lines drawn at right angles to the goal line eight (8) yards from the center of the goal, extending into the field of play for a distance of five (5) yards, and joined by a line drawn parallel to the goal line.
The Penalty Area: Defined at each end of the field as follows: two lines drawn at right angles to the goal line thirteen (13) yards from the center of the goal, extending into the field of play for a distance of ten (10) yards, and joined by a line drawn parallel to the goal line.
Goals: Dimensions: 18 feet wide by 6 feet tall.
Law 2 – The Ball
Standard size four (4) ball will be used.
Law 3 – The Number of Players
Number of Players: A match is played between two teams, each consisting of not more than seven players, one of whom is the goalkeeper. A match may not start if either team consists of fewer than five players.
Number of Substitutions: Unlimited substitutions may be made.
Substitution procedure: Conform to FIFA, except substituted players may return to the match, and it is not necessary to give the referee a list of named substitutes.
Substitutions may be made at the following stoppages with the permission of the referee:
- During the half time interval or before the start of overtime periods.
- After a goal is scored.
- On either team's goal kick.
- On a team's own corner kick, or the opposing team's corner kick if the opposing team is substituting.
- On a team's own throw-in, or the opposing team's throw-in if the opposing team is substituting.
- At an injury (only to replace an injured player).
Law 4 – The Players’ Equipment
Conform to FIFA
Law 5 – The Referee
USSF Registered referee. Duties conform to FIFA. Infringements shall be briefly explained to the offending player.
Law 6 – The Assistant Referees
May be used but are not required.
Law 7 – The Duration of the Match
The match lasts two equal periods of 25 minutes. The half-time interval is not to exceed 10 minutes.
Law 8 – The Start and Restart of Play
Conform to FIFA, except that at kick-off opponents are to be at least eight (8) yards from the ball until it is in play.
Law 9 – The Ball In and Out of Play
Conform to FIFA.
Law 10 – The Method of Scoring
Conform to FIFA.
Law 11 – Offside
Conform to FIFA. Offisde will be enforced in U10 starting in the 2017-2018 season.
Law 12 – Fouls and Misconduct
Conform to FIFA, except that sliding tackles are not allowed.
Law 13 – Free Kicks
Conform to FIFA, except that opponents must be at least eight (8) yards from the ball until it is in play.
Law 14 – The Penalty Kick
Conform to FIFA with the exception that the penalty mark is made eight (8) yards from the midpoint between the goalposts and equidistant to them.
Law 15 – The Throw-in
Conform to FIFA, except that when correct procedure is not followed, a player will be given an opportunity to correct the throw. The number of retries is at the discretion of the referee.
Law 16 – The Goal Kick
Conform to FIFA.
Law 17 – The Corner Kick
Conform to FIFA, except opposing players must be eight (8) yards from the ball until it is in play.
