REQUIREMENTS

SafeSport 

The U.S. Center for SafeSport is a non-profit organization focused on ending all forms of abuse in sport. They endeavor to make athlete well-being the centerpiece of the nation’s sports culture through abuse prevention, education, and accountability. All SAY Soccer coaches must successfully complete the SafeSport training every two (2) years. The required SafeSport training can be accessed at https://bit.ly/2HzhMsb. The access code will be provided by your season coordinator.  Upon completion of this training, please submit your Training Certificate to the Safety Compliance Coordinator.


Concussion Training

The SAY National Concussion Policy is a requirement for ALL coaches regardless of their age and/or status (Head Coach, Assistant Coach, etc.) These procedures are designed to comply with legislation concerning concussion in youth sports. Use the link to begin your concussion certification process.  All SAY Soccer coaches must successfully complete the concussion training every three (3) years.  This training MUST be completed prior to being able to participate in any SAY activity, whether it be a practice or a game situation.  Upon completion of this training, please submit your Training Certificate to the Safety Compliance Coordinator.

Background Screen 

A volunteer coach is an individual that may have unsupervised access to children. In order to ensure the safety of all our participants, the BSA may conduct background screening on our volunteer coaches at any time using a variety of resources.

“Times Two" Policy 
All SAY Areas and District require no fewer than two, unrelated adults per team to be present at all team functions. This policy is in place to protect both the players and the volunteers.  While this requirement is generally satisfied by the the members of a team's coaching staff, parents or other adults can also fill this role.
