We have a lot of projects and new programs going on all the time, and we’d like to take a moment to highlight some of them here:

Four years ago, we were included in the Parks and Trails Levy, and we have received $25,000/year from the citizens of Mon County. That money has enabled us to make some significant upgrades to our field maintenance and equipment programs – purchasing a mini-truck; purchasing a tractor; purchasing a seeder; as well as completing a lot of work on new field ‘F’ at Laurel Point (LP). Next up is a trailer to move the tractor to Cheat Lake to complete numerous projects on that facility!

Our partnership with Dick’s Sporting Goods has replenished our volunteer coaches equipment bags (balls, cones, pinnies) - we have over 100 equipment bags, at an average cost of $40/bag; grants from the Morgantown Kiwanis Club have allowed us to improve the water supply at LP, which will allow us to water those fields going forward.  We are also starting an off-season irrigation program at CL! (combined with the aeration/seeding work we can do with our tractor, these fields are already in much better shape, but they are going to get even better over the coming 3 years!)

Leidos, our new sponsorship partner for our GrassRoots soccer teams, has significantly lowered our jersey costs, which allows us to redirect that money into other needs, like helping out our Headstart kids, TOPSoccer, new goals, replacing bathroom items, etc...

Our ongoing relationship with WVU iServe and CPASS brings us numerous student volunteers – both as coaches, and in our seasonal field maintenance/improvement programs.

We are leading the way in coaching education for the entire state! We just organized and hosted weekend #1 of 2 in our 2nd USSF National D Coaching License Clinic, and are planning a USSF C National Coaching License Clinic for this summer!

We helped create the Kleats For Kenya non-profit, and to date, we've sent over 200 pairs of cleats, over 100 soccer balls, and around 50 kits to children in need! This program is also run under our Gear Exchange program, which was started organically within the club, by a couple of moms looking to make life easier on everyone!

We are just discussing a partnership arrangement with Pantry Plus More, a relatively new food bank in the county, focusing on the ongoing nutritional needs of at risk children - stay tuned for more on this!

Our larger community has embraced what we are doing, and sees the value in what we bring to our children and families. But, there is always more to do, and more to offer, and to do that, we need YOU.

As we approach the end of another great year, we have an ambitious list of projects already planned for 2020 – including: Expanding the parking at Cheat Lake (CL); field improvements at both CL and LP – including irrigation programs; goal replacement (a set of full size goals cost around $4,000); expanded program offerings – including adult soccer, winter futsal and skills clinics for our GrassRoots, FUNdamentals!, and Wee Kicks players; and outreach into school PE programs.

How can you help with all of this?

- Keep participating in our various soccer programs,
- Volunteer to coach,
- Volunteer to help manage a team,
- Assist with various projects (like our current efforts to become a funded community partner with the United Way of Mon and Preston Counties)
- Give when you can!

To that end, we ask you to please consider making a year-end donation!

If your company has a matching gift program, we qualify as an IRS-approved nonprofit, and this can potentially double your giving! Let us know if you have any questions as to how this works.

If you shop at, you can designate MUSC as your charity, and a % of your purchases should find their way back to us.  We are also working on a similar program with Krogers!

Our goal for this year end campaign is to reach $135,000 by 12/31/19 – which will match what we have been given to date by the Parks and Trails levy and Leidos. While ambitious, we know it is doable, so please give whatever you can – everything helps us get there!

Thanks again for being part of all of this, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
