Multiple divisions are listed for some ages because the players could be placed in any of the divisions listed.Register your player for the first division listed in their age group; it doesn’t necessarily mean that’s the division in which they will play.

*Please note that all first graders are eligible to play in the A/U8 division, regardless of their birthdates.

**Remember that AA, AAA, and Majors will be skill-based division and not necessarily age-based divisions, except all 12yr olds will play in the Majors.  Each player must attend their respective eval. The eval is scheduled for March19th from 1-5 at Farley Fieldhouse on the Bowdoin campus.  Eval times will be sent in the near future.  There are no evaluations for softball players.

Our season will begin on Saturday, April 29 and it will run through Saturday, June 3rd; Softball may run into the weekend of June 10.  We plan to have a playoff week for the AA, AAA, and Majors teams the week of June 5th.  We will again have Rookie Day and a Softball Day, when we can announce the players for each team.  The All Star teams will be selected prior to the end of the season and their seasons will begin at the end of our playoff week.  There will be a 12U and a 10U Softball All Star team.  There will be 4 baseball All Star teams: 9U, 10U, 11U, and 12U.  A change from previous seasons is that each All Star team will have to win their District tournaments to advance to the State Finals. The state has not assigned dates for Districts and States yet. Our plan is to have the All Star teams play right up until the weekend of July 21st.

We will plan Opening Day festivities for April 29th.  If you would like to participate or help out with planning and preparation for Opening Day, please let me know.  Some things that we can use your help with are: Opening Day planning committee; to run the grill for a shift that day; to announce games; to umpire games; to work in the snack shack for a shift; to help with raffles, tables, and other activities.  If you have other ideas regarding Opening Day, please feel free to contact me.

There are a number of ways to be involved during the season.  We can definitely use some help with umpiring games, especially as this year we thought it would be great to have parents umpire the AA games.  If you would like to be a plate ump or a field ump, please contact me soon.  If you prefer to be behind the grill or on the fryer we would love to have your help.  We will also need announcers for Rookie Day and Softball Day.

There are a few clinics to get our players tuned up for the season.

Ryan Sullivan and his Bowdoin softball players will hold their annual Polar Bear Softball clinics on March 5thand 12th.  Here is the link to register:http://athletics.bowdoin.edu/sports/sball/2016-17/files/Updated_Youth_Clinic_Flyer.pdf

Luke Potter will begin his Baseball Bootcamp clinic on March 4th and it will run on Saturdays until April1st.  Please register your player with Luke at [email protected].

The schedule for 2017 has not been finalized and will not be until mid-April.  If you’re curious about game days and such, all of last year’s schedules are available for your viewing pleasure on our website.  Practice days and times are at the discretion of the individual coaches and vary team by team.

We will have a Babe Ruth baseball team again this year and that season will begin at the conclusion of the Junior High baseball season.  For more information on the Babe Ruth baseball season, please contact Jay Taylor at [email protected].
