BRUNSWICK CAL RIPKEN

Mission

The goal of Brunswick Cal Ripken  is to teach the fundamentals of  baseball and softball in a supportive and instructional manner to youth ages 6 through 15 through the following divisions: Babe Ruth Baseball (ages 13-15) , Cal Ripken Baseball  and Babe Ruth Softball (ages 6-12). We also look to demonstrate and encourage good sportsmanship, appreciation, and respect for teammates, opponents, coaches, umpires and fans.

Brunswick Cal Ripken is a non-profit charitable organization and a charter member of the Babe Ruth- Cal Ripken league. Our organization operates as an all-volunteer program. We rely on the support of our families, local businesses, and community sponsors.

Programs Offered

Cal Ripken Baseball: Ages 6-12

Majors:
Starting the 2015 season, the Majors and AAA/AA will be skill-based divisions and not necessarily age-based divisions as they were in the past, except all 12yr olds will play in the Majors. Each player must attend their respective division evaluations. The Majors division offers players the highest level of competition.  Players are eligible for postseason play with league playoffs and District, State, and Regional tournaments.  Players become eligible for the All-Star team(s).

AA/AAA:
Starting the 2016 season, these divisions will replace the previous Minors division.  AAA will consist of players aged 8-11 who are ready for more competitive play and teams in this division will travel to play other towns.  Skill development is a high priority in this division.  AA will be a house developmental league for players aged 7-10 in which practices and skill development will be emphasized.  Each player must attend their respective division evaluations. Teamwork and game strategy are introduced, as is postseason play with league playoffs and District, State, and Regional tournaments.  Players become eligible for the All-Star team(s).

A:
This division is open for players ages 6-8 or any child that is enrolled in First grade.  The A division places an emphasis on fun and basic skill development.  Games are considered non-traditional in the sense that all players will take the field, all players will have an at-bat each inning, the coaches pitch, and the coaches are encouraged to be on the field during games.  All this is done to teach the kids the fundamentals of the game and to prepare them for the next level of softball and baseball. Please note all first grade players will be included regardless of their birth dates.
