Shadow Mountain Little League

Our Divisions

At Shadow Mountain Little League, we aim to give all players the best youth baseball experience possible. Our player divisions are determined based on little league (LL) age (see here for 2023 Little League Age Chart), although exceptions may occur. Players requesting to play up or down in division should contact us at [email protected].

Our player divisions are as follows: 

  • Tee Ball Division (LL age 4-6 years old)
  • Farm – Machine Pitch Division (LL age 7-8 years old)
  • Minors Division (LL age 9-10 years old)
  • Majors Division (LL age 11-12 years old)

Tee Ball Division (LL age 4-6 years old):

When:
            - Fall Ball Season - One game per week, typically on weekends
            - Spring Season - Typically two games per week
            - Games typically last 45 - 60 minutes  
            - Practices are at the discretion of the team manager

What:
            
- Players hit off a tee using a softer safety ball
            - Standings are not kept, and no umpires are provided

Who:
            - Players are placed on a team
            - Teammate requests by email may be accepted  

Where:
            - Nancie Lane Fields at N. 36th 
St and E. Cholla St.

Farm -- Machine Pitch Division (LL age 7-8 years old):

When:
      - Fall Ball Season - One game per week, typically on weekends
      - Spring Season - Typically two games per week
      - Games typically last 90 minutes  
      - Practices are an additional 1-2 days per week

What:
      
- Players hit off a pitching machine, 5 strikes per at bat
      - Scores and standings are kept
      - No umpires are provided, and coaches determine play calls
      - Players may be eligible for postseason tournaments

Who:
      
- At least 1 year of tee ball is highly recommended
      - Players attend a skills evaluation and are selected onto teams
      - Teammate requests are not accepted
      - Sibling requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis  

Where:
      - Nancie Lane Fields at N. 36th St and E. Cholla St.
      - Inter-league play may occur at other local Little League fields

Minors Division (LL age 9-10 years old):

When:
      - Fall Ball Season - One game per week, typically on weekends
      - Spring Season - Typically two games per week
      - Games typically last 1.5-2 hours  
      - Practices are an additional 1-2 days per week

What:
      
- Players face a player pitcher
      - Scores and standings are kept
      - Fall: no umpires are provided // Spring: umpires may be provided
      - Players may be eligible for postseason or All-Stars tournaments

Who:
      
- Players attend a skills evaluation and are selected onto teams
      - Teammate requests are not accepted
      - Sibling requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis  

Where:
      - Nancie Lane Fields at N. 36th St and E. Cholla St.
      - Inter-league play may occur at other local Little League fields 

Majors Division (LL age 11-12 years old):

When:
      - Fall Ball Season - One game per week, typically on weekends
      - Spring Season - Typically two games per week
      - Games typically last 2 hours  
      - Practices are an additional 1-3 days per week

What:
      
- Players face a player pitcher
      - Scores and standings are kept
      - Fall: no umpires are provided // Spring: umpires may be provided
      - Players may be eligible for postseason or All-Stars tournaments

Who:
      - Players attend a skills evaluation and are selected onto teams
      - Teammate requests are not accepted
      - Sibling requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis  

Where:

When:
      - Fall Ball Season - One game per week, typically on weekends
      - Spring Season - Typically two games per week
      - Games typically last 2 hours  
      - Practices are an additional 2-3 days per week

What:
      
- Players face a player pitcher
      
- Scores and standings are kept
      
- Fall: no umpires are provided // Spring: umpires may be provided
      
- Players may be eligible for postseason or All-Stars tournaments

Who:
      
 - Players attend a skills evaluation and are selected onto teams
      
- Teammate requests are not accepted
