Welcome to the HCYP High School Boys Recreational Basketball League
Our mission is to provide an opportunity for high school basketball players to compete in a formal but fun league where all members get the opportunity for equal play time among their peers within a group of players of equal skill levels.
Individual players as well as teams are welcome to register. As an individual, we will place you on a team based on your skill level so that you will have the opportunity to play and grow your basketball skills. Teams and divisions will be formed to balance physical size and skills levels. Our goal is to provide balanced competition so that each team has the opportunity to win each and every game.
Teams wishing to register must understand a few guidelines prior to registering. First, we cannot guarantee teams will find other teams of equal skill levels and may be limited to competing among a limited number of teams. The number of players per team will be 8 or 9 depending on registration numbers with the exceptional case of 10 on a case by case basis. Teams with less than the maximum will have players among the individual registrants added to their rosters. Teams registering may have to play up against higher levels of competition in order to balance the divisions.
Individual players as well as team players should register as individuals on this site. In the comments section, players wishing to play as a team should list the common coach’s name. Players wishing to play with friends should list requests in the comment section as well. Requests can also be sent to the league commissioner Michael Santoni @ [email protected] Requests are in no way guaranteed since balancing teams is the priority but we will attempt to fulfill all requests if possible.
Evaluations will be scheduled in November through early December to measure each players skill level and this includes players registering on a team. This is not a try out and all participants not having played in the high school recreation league last year must attend evaluations. Players exempt from evaluations this year are those who played in the HCYP High School League last year since stats are available for those players. All others must attend evals. An announcement with an evaluation date(s) will be posted on this site as well an email sent to each registered player.
Registration ends November 18th . Players will be notified of team assignments no later than December 9th. All high school games will be played on Sundays from approximately 12:00 PM until 7:30 PM at several High School gymnasiums throughout the Howard County area.
