Buddies are the lifeblood of TOPSoccer.

Who is a Buddy? A Buddy is a cheerleader. A facilitator. A listening ear. A smiling supporter.

A lifetime friend, even.

Buddies make the TOPSoccer world go round.

What makes a good Buddy?***

• At least 12 years of age
• A heart for others
• A willingness to commit to a player or two for the duration of the season and beyond
• An ability to follow rules, patience and flexibility

*** We do give priority to MSC players.

What can I expect as a Buddy?

Be prepared to have your life changed -- positively -- for one.

On a given practice day, you'd be expected to arrive 20 minutes early to check-in and go over the day's plan with Coach Mike. After this, we'll pair you as well as we can with one of our TOPSoccer players. As much as we can, we encourage semi-permanent pairings, because we are looking to provide as much constancy as possible for our players.

You'd also be expected to help clean up after each practice.

Make sure you wear athletic gear; we provide the volunteer shirts.

What do I do if my player can't/won't take part?

Hey, it's okay! TOPSoccer is about openness and freedom. Your player takes off jogging for the far fields? No sweat, run off with him/her! As long as it is safe, let the player have fun. Stick with him/her and let a senior coach or buddy know.

What do I do if I need assistance?

We all need assistance at some time or another. Wave over a tenured buddy or a coach, and you'll get help. We try not to summon a parent or guardian unless ABSOLUTELY needed.

Can I get formal volunteer hours by doing this?

Why, yes you can! Please contact Coach Tre or Ms Becky for assistance. We do really believe that you should do this because you really want to.

Can I invite my friends to serve as Buddies?

Yes, you may... but we admit to being a bit picky in vetting our volunteers. We give priority to our tried and true Strikers players and families, but welcome any and all kids that have a heart for this program.

What if I need to miss a practice?

Contact Coach Tre as SOON as possible.

Log in to your Blue Sombrero account (or create one)

1. Click on “Volunteer Opportunities”.
2. Click on green button (upper right)  “Find Volunteer Roles”
3. Scroll to bottom of page; Click on  “-Show More-“
4. Select “TOPSocccer 2018-2019”
5. Click on “View Roles”
6. Select “TOPSoccer Buddy” then, “Sign Up” and “Continue”
7. Select “Invite New Account User”, then “Continue”
8. Fill out information and waiver, then “Create Account…"
