U14, U16 & U19 FAQ's

Why do the leagues get bigger as the players get older?  Every our biggest league is the U19 League.  Why is this always the biggest league? Because the players are at this age choose where they want to play and they loved playing in North Indoor Soccer leagues.

Why are these leagues so much fun for players?  First, the players can form their own teams with their      friends.  In traveling leagues they don't get to play with their friends unless they happen to be on the    same    team.  We have many teams that have all-state soccer players on the same team with players who  have  never played traveling or high school soccer.  Why? Because they are friends and want to play  together.

Another reason these leagues are so popular is because it is fun to play against friends and rivals!  Many  of  the teams are made up with players from one school so you often have an Anoka team versus a  Andover  team. a Coon Rapids team against a Blaine team, etc.  We also normally have a number of teams  made up  from players attending private or charter schools such as Legacy Christian Academy, Totino  Grace, PACT  Charter School, Northwest Passage High School.  Many teams have friends on other teams and get to play for friendly bragging rights!

Finally, if we have enough teams to divide the leagues into upper and lower divisions, we will for the playoffs. This allows the more serious teams to play against each other for the upper division championship and the other teams to fight for the lower division championship!

How Do I Register a Team?  The is no team registration fee, instead each player registers individually.  Teams must also submit a Team Registration form that provides NIS with team contact information and a list of your players.  This allows us to match-up the individual registrations with your roster. If an individual player registers and indicates that he/she is on your team but is not listed on your roster we will not add that player to your team without first contacting you.

When you complete your team registration don't worry that you don't have a complete roster or might want add a player at a later time, you can easily add players at a later time.

Should I Wait Until I Have Everything Before I Contact NIS? No! Letting us know that you are trying to put together a team early in the process allows us to help you if any issues pop-up or if you need help finding players. Sometimes we are aware of players looking for a team or of another team that is short players that you could merge with. If we know that you are intending on registering a team we can help remind you to register on time and help keep track of which of your players have registered.
