What ages are the NIS Tiny Tot and Mighty Mite Programs designed for? The NIS Tiny Tot and Mighty Mite programs are designed for ages 3 - 8 although skill, experience and maturity are more important than age.
What is the Tiny Tot program? The Tiny Tot program is an introduction to soccer for younger, less aggressive children. Each session is divided into short segments so that they don't get bored.
What is the Mighty Mite program? Mighty Mite program is designed to teach fundamental soccer individual and team skills to the players. This program uses a mix of creative drills and small-sided games. Even the skill training is designed so that the kids have fun.
What days and times are the Tiny Tot and Mighty Mite programs held on? The Tiny Tots and Mighty Mites play on Saturday afternoons.
When does the season start? The filed is put in asoon as the anoka High School hockey season is over. Generally, this means that the season will start the first or second saturday in March. Each year we post the start date on the Home Page once we are given that date.
What equipment do they need to play? They need flat soled tennis shoes. They can also wear indoor soccer shoes but they are not necessary. Cleats are not allowed (they will trip on the carpet. They need to wear shin guards. There is no need at these ages to buy expensive shin guards.. The shin guards must be covered by soccer socks or athletic pants. Each player will receive a team shirt with their registration.
What happens if they are having a "bad day"? We realize these are young children and they all can have that "bad day" at any time. No need to worry. No need for you to have to deal with the problem. We are used to this and the trainers are prepared to help them get engaged and get back to having fun. In rare cases we will ask the parents for help but that is rare.
Can parents be on the field? Yes! Parents have three options. 1. You can sit in the player benches to watch the sessions; 2. You can sit in the balcony seating; or 3. You can be on the field In some instances the trainers will allow you to participate in the drills or games with your child!
Can you take pictures? Of course, you can! You can get right on the field to take great pictures and, if you email them to NIS Pictures, we will post them to the website or on our Facebook page! You can also post pictures directly to the North Indoor Soccer Facebook page.
