About Our Club

Mission

The goals of the ORO VALLEY LACROSSE CLUB are:
          (a) To promote the development and growth of the sport of lacrosse through the formation of youth lacrosse teams in Oro                          Valley,  Arizona and the affiliation of such youth lacrosse team with U.S. Lacrosse, Inc. and the associated state lacrosse                        league  organization;
          (b) To promote and develop through the operation of a youth lacrosse team knowledge of the rules and skills of lacrosse;
          (c) To promote and develop through boys and girls participating in youth lacrosse the qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork and respect for                       coaches, officials, and players; and
          (d) To develop, promote and provide opportunities for coaches and officials to receive training on the rules and skills of lacrosse and the skills                    necessary to enable coaches and officials to serve as positive role models for boys and girls participating in the sport of lacrosse, with an                     emphasis on the positive qualities of sportsmanship, teamwork and the building of character


Offered Programs

 

Youth Development Team- COED  (Grades K-3)

The primary objective of the Youth K-3 program is to introduce boys and girls to the sport of Lacrosse. Focus is put on the basic skills used in the game.We have three goals at this early age, to have fun, learn a ton and be safe doing so. Kids will practice 2 times a week until late December/early January when they we will then have practice once a week and play one inter program game per week. Games will be local and we may try to find other clubs to have fun scrimmages if possible. 

Kids will learn skills, teamwork, basic rules and field spacing.  Games are played with 6 player on the field at a time with no goalies. There are 2 attackers, two middies and two defensive players. We play on a smaller field and have 4 (10 min. quarters).   Everyone plays every position to help provide more involvement and touches.. 

 

U - 6 Team (Grades 5-6)

Players in Grades 5-6 will play games in the Arizona & Tucson Lacrosse League with games in the Phoenix area as well as Tucson. Games will be refereed by certified referees. Teams will practice 3-4 times a week prior to the league play starting. When league play starts ther will be 3 practices per week. 
 

Junior High Team (Grades 7-8) 

Players in Grades 7-8 will play games in the Phoenix area as well as in Tucson. Games will be refereed by certified referees. Teams will be practicing 3-4 days a week prior to the season starting. Qualifying teams will compete for State Championships at the end of the year..

 

Oro Valley High School Teams (JV/Varsity)

New in the 2015-2016 we will be offering players who attend Oro Valley area High Schools the opportunity to continue playing Lacrosse at the High School level. More details to follow. 

 

Girls Development Team (Grades 2-8)

New in 2015-2016 will be a development program similar to the Youth Development Program. The girls game of Lacrosse is similar to the game the boys play but there are also many equipment and rule differences. The newly developed program will focus on skills, fun and safety. The girls will use womens/girls stick and will use modified rules to help transition them to the womens/girls game.
