The Orangevale Youth Soccer Club (OYSC) fall recreational program is available to all children between the ages of 4 and 18 who want to play soccer.  There are no tryouts or prerequisites.  A child that is registered in our program will be placed on a team, providing we have coaches for their age group.  We will continue to register players as long as there is space available on a team and a coach for that team.  We encourage you to register early.  Registration for fall recreational soccer typically occurs in April at the Orangevale Community Center on several different dates.

Volunteer Opportunities

There is always a need for enthusiastic coaches so please let us know if you are interested. You may check the coaching box on the application and or email the coach coordinator or registrar listed on the web site. We will be happy to provide you with more information. You do not need to have experience to become a coach. The Orangevale Soccer Club holds coaching clinics at the beginning of each season. All of our coaches are volunteers and we cannot form teams without those volunteers. We also have volunteer referees and board members so consider looking into one of these rewarding jobs. Many of our referees will also be paid this year so let us know if that if for you.

Answers to frequently asked questions:

Can I play with my friends? Our registrar will make every effort to place players together when they make that request. The best way is for both friends to request each other. You may also request a coach and you will be placed on that team assuming there is space.

When are practices? Practices for the recreational program usually begin August 1.Normally a team will practice on a Monday and Wednesday or a Tuesday and Thursday. The times are usually 4 or 4:30-6:00 or 6:00-7:30. Your child’s practice field will depend on his or her age group and the field assigned to them. Our practice fields include: Pasteur Middle School, Orangevale Park, Coleman, Palisades and Pacific Tec (old Orangevale Open).

When are the games? Games will begin the Saturday after Labor Day. Each team will play 10 games (with few exceptions due to teams divisions) There is one weekend, the last one in September, when no recreational games are played. About one half of the team’s games will be played on their home field. The other games will usually be played against a team from close by.

What equipment do I need? All players will need the club uniform. You will also need soccer shoes and shin guards which may be purchased at any sport store. It is also a good idea to purchase your own soccer ball and bring it to all practices. Ball sizes are as follows: U6 and U8 size3, U10 and U12 size 4, U14 and up size 5.

Can I get a head start learning the game? Orangevale does sponsor a soccer camp. See more information coming soon on our web site. Your local park district may also have a program this spring.

Can I get a refund if I change my mind?  Refund requests shall be made in the form of a written email or letter to our registrar.  Please include details of the player’s name and date of birth.  Fifty percent (50%) of the registration fee will be deducted from registrations for requests made on or before July 31st.  No refunds are issued after July 31st.  Any player who cannot be placed on a team will receive a full refund.

Still have questions? Contact Candy Stickney (registrar) through the club web site or call the club phone at 916 988-1528.
