Frequently Asked Questions and Answers…

What are the Player Benefits for playing with Woodstock Heat?

In addition to the pre-season practice, games, and tournaments players also receive unlimited hitting passes at SportsCity for February & March. Participation in our league wide events --- Pitch/Hit/Run Contest during Opening Day, marching in the Memorial Day Parade, and our annual Pool Party --- are part of being a Woodstock Heat player. Players also receive a $15 discount on Fall Ball Registration.

8  and 9 Year old players are get to play on beautiful Sullivan Field. A field cared for entirely by volunteers, includes dual batting cages, and is truly a "Field of Dreams."

Who coaches your teams?

Woodstock Heat is consistently evaluating our coaches to ensure they are the best representatives of our local community.  While a coach's past playing experience may be a strong building block it itself does not equate to adequately being able to guide, train, and develop youth players.  It's our belief that teaching and development is a true talent in itself. We ensure coaches are people that can be looked to as a role model, believe firmly in active practices, and have strong communication & organization skills.

Is travel baseball expensive?

While travel ball can be expensive, we believe that affording players the opportunity to play, should their skill level match/exceed expectations is essential. In 2019, the cost of registration was $400.

We run our a corporate sponsorship program, allowing players to offset registration dollar for dollar on their own solicitations, have a committee responsible for fundraising, and typically each player only needs to participate in 1-2 fundraising experiences.

Do I have to travel long distances to play?
No, all of our games are typically an hour or less travel time. We are very fortunate in Northern Illinois that there are many highly competitive tournaments in the local region. All of our home games will be played on fields in Woodstock.

Does my kid really need to play travel baseball?
That depends on the playing experience your family wants. Travel teams tend to play in a more competitive atmosphere, begin practices significantly earlier than in-house leagues, and recruit & retain stronger coaching staffs. The season typically runs from January-July. On the other hand, in-house baseball tends to play within a 20-30 minute drive of your house, and allow for a shorter season (typically April-June), while still delivering on top notch teaching and skill development.

What is the process to play on a team?
Tryouts are held annually in July for the next season. Practices begin in January/February with games beginning in April. You will try out for the age that you will be on April 30th of the next year. Our website will post the tryout dates by early July every year. If you missed the tryout deadline and are interested in playing, contact us and we can schedule an individual tryout.
