Concussions in youth sports is a very serious issue, and RBF plans to comply with the latest CDC recommendations relating to concussions and youth sports. In order to do this, we will be utilizing the CDC (Center for Disease Control) guidelines and informational materials. Please find the CDC Parent and Athlete handouts relating to concussions for your use. More information may be found at http://www.cdc.gov/headsup/index.html
Or insurance provider has also instituted the following Return-to-Play Policy:
Any athlete who has sustained a head injury or is suspected of having a head injury will be immediately removed from play and required to sit out 24 hours. Prior to returning to any practice or game the athlete must visit a licensed health care professional for evaluation and clearance AND must sign the CDC Parent/Athlete Concussion Information Sheet attached.
These measures have been instituted in order to help ensure the safety of the players. We hope that you will help your child by reading the attached information and informing them of the precautions they can take and the symptoms of a concussion.
