Growing up and playing his high school and club soccer in Colorado Springs, CO, E.J. Roberts was a participant on local ODP teams. During his Junior and Senior Years he played on the PDL level Pikes Peak Stampede under the coaching of ex Irish International Ken White. Coach Roberts relocated to South Carolina for his college experiences and played at USC-Spartanburg and Lander Unversity respectively. Two historically upper echelon DII programs. His Junior year at Lander, the program made it to the Southeastern NCAA regional playoff and ended the year with a 17-4 record and a 2001 top15 National NCAA ranking.
Since then Coach Roberts has spent his time coaching at club, high school and collegel levels. In 2013 and his second year as an Assistant and Goalkeeper Coach at Lexington High School in Columbia, SC, his team reached the state finals only to lose in a pk shoot out. Marking the farthest the program had ever gone. As the goalkeeper coach at the NCCAA Columbia International University, Coach Roberts help Head Coach James Whitaker with the start-up of the school's men's soccer team and the school's first ever collegiate athletic program. With CIU stastically having a goals against average that remained in the top in the country, the program made it to the regional tournament in each of it's first three years. With his various club affiliations, he trained numerous state champions at many different age and skill levels.
While a resident in South Carolina, Coach Roberts also began his personal training business, Redline Goalkeeper Training. In just five years of operation he was able to establish himself as the biggest local training endeavor with just under 40 kids before his decision to relocate to Castro Valley, CA where he is in his beta stages of reestablishing his business. Just before his fifth year he was able to establish two business partnerships with KA goalkeeper gloves and Keeperstop.com, providing highly discounted gloves and gear to those under his training umbrella. Not long after his arrival in California Coach Roberts joined the Division II Notre Dame de Namur Argonauts in Belmont, CA. Along with BJ Noble and Paul McCallion he aided the program to a second place finish in the Pac West Conference and just missing out on the NCAA National Tournament by one game.
Coach Roberts presently holds his NSCAA National Diploma, NSCAA Level I, II, III and Advanced National Goalkeeper Diplomas and his USSF "D" licenses. He continues to educate himself and acquire licenses only to educate and improve those he coaches.
