Get Ready for Fall Soccer!

Nazareth Soccer Parents!

I hope you and your families are all doing well and staying healthy and safe during this difficult period. The Board has been busy the last few months working through a major systems transition that has nothing to do with the pandemic. We are launching a new registration format with a new vendor (GotSoccer), using a new payment company, developing a new website, and working with a new uniform print shop.

The main reason I'm writing though is to give all our members an update on the Fall 2020 season. EPYS is the Club's top governing body, provides our insurance coverage, and oversees the leagues we play in. Last week, they released new guidance to support a gradual return to play across eastern Pennsylvania; clubs can start playing when their home counties turn green. It sounds like Northampton County will convert to green next Friday, at which point we can resume limited face-to-face training and progress toward competitive play in four phases.

In the next few days, we are going to launch Fall 2020 Registration. If your player wants to play, you will need to register -- the sooner, the better! You will see we have a totally new registration system, so you will need to create a new account and password. You will go through the entire registration process and optionally order Classic Program uniforms and custom Club facemasks, but you will not be charged anything until we are certain our season will run. Running registration like this will help us determine player counts, team formation, coaching needs, and so on, before we kick things off. This preliminary registration process will also help us plan to host evaluations as needed heading toward the season.

We are also planning at this time to offer summer camps to start in mid-July. Stay tuned to the Club's Facebook page for alerts on registration for our summer programs. For safety reasons, slots will be limited.

We will provide more guidance to coaches and parents before any players take the field, but you should know there will be new, non-negotiable expectations for players and parents who choose to play:

  • Players will need temperature checks before practices and games and must not attend if they have a fever over 100.4 degrees.
  • Players must not attend soccer activities if they have a cough that is not typical for them.
  • Players must not attend soccer activities if anyone in their household is sick with a fever or cough that is not typical for them.
  • Coaches will need to wear masks and maintain social distance from players throughout the season.
  • Coaches must not attend Club activities if they or anyone in their household has a fever or cough that is not typical for them.
  • Parents will need to wear masks and maintain social distance on the sidelines throughout the season.
  • Parents must not attend Club activities if they or anyone in their household has a fever or cough that is not typical for them.
  • There will be no team snacks or sharing of water/drinks.
  • There will be no handshakes.

The Board is aware there is some skepticism in the community about the need for health-related precautions and behavioral changes, but we can't take any chances with the health of our players and Club families. If you plan to refuse to wear a mask or contest other EPYS/Club policies, please instead just don't sign up this season. If you have questions or suggestions about any of this, let me know at [email protected] or contact Jen Bennett at [email protected].

With thanks for your support,
Rob
