I am writing on behalf of the Durango Youth Soccer Association (DYSA), dba Rio Rapids Durango Soccer Club (RRDSC), and the Durango Shootout Soccer Tournament for the 2021 soccer season.
RRDSC is a non-profit organization with 350 members and 21 teams. RRDSC is committed to educating young people aged 8-18 about the importance of sportsmanship and fellowship while providing a high-quality soccer experience. The Shootout tournament is our primary fundraiser for the year and offers businesses visibility for the 140+ teams. In 2019 the Shootout brought in over 2.3 million dollars to the City of Durango! Unfortunately, the 2020 Shootout was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Over the past soccer season RRDSC provided 39 families with scholarships for a total of $17,213. These scholarships helped cover club registration fees, uniforms and tournament costs. RRDSC supplements 58% of every player’s registration fee to support every family in our soccer community.
With your financial help, RRDSC and the Shootout Tournament, will continue to give every young person in the community an opportunity to play soccer and develop important characteristics that will help them through their young life and beyond. Sponsor level offerings are included with this letter.
RRDSC Community Service Programs “Go Out And Lead (GOAL)”
· Outreach Program – Free after school soccer for children at Animas Valley and Sunnyside Elementary School
· TOPSoccer-Rama - Annual one-day event for adults and children with disabilities.
· Service, Soccer & Socks – Annual club-wide service event partnering with Durango 9R School District helping them get ready for the new school year.
· Individual Team Service Projects – RRDSC teams complete at least one service project each soccer season.

The Durango Shootout will celebrate its 26th year in 2021. First established in 1995, the Durango Shootout has grown to become one of the largest sporting events in Colorado. In 2019 the city of Durango welcomed 150 youth soccer teams from across the western United States. Teams from all over region bring families and friends to enjoy the soccer festival atmosphere while taking a getaway vacation during Spring. With our hotels fully booked and our restaurants packed, the three-day competition brings a strong economic injection into our community. No other event in Durango can match the impact of the Durango Shootout. Unfortunately the 2020 Shootout was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
