Softball Evaluations & Opening Day Info

Hello Brewster Little League Softball Families,

Our 2024 registration is well underway and many families have already demonstrated their excitement by registering early for the upcoming season. Registration ends February 29th, so please urge families to sign up before that deadline. This year's deadline will be strictly enforced in order to finalize rosters, uniforms, scheduling and coaches more efficiently.

Here are some very important upcoming League dates:

Softball Evaluations/Tryouts
The league will be holding evaluations for all players in the Minors Coach/Player Pitch Divisions on Saturday March 9, 2024 in the Brewster High School Gym. Minors Coach/Player Pitch (8u) will be held between 9:00 am - 11:00 am and Minors Player Pitch (10u) from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm. Players are free to leave once their individual evaluation is complete. The purpose of these evaluations is to test their ability to throw, catch, pitch, hit and run so the League can place our teams in the appropriate division in the Greater Hudson Valley Softball league.

If your daughter is 8 years old and wishes to play “up” in Minors player pitch (10u) or 7 years old and wishes to play “up” in Minors Coach/Player pitch (8u), they must attend one of the tryouts. This is to ensure that these players have the requisite skill to play up beyond the recommended division for their age, and most importantly, to make sure that the players are safely placed in the appropriate division.

All players coming to evaluations and tryouts must wear rubber sole sneakers; no cleats or turf shoes are permitted. Players should also bring their softball gloves, helmet, and bat.

Opening Day Parade & Ceremonies
Little League Parade and Opening Day will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024. We will muster at 9:00 AM at Veterans Memorial Park (also known as Electrozone) in the Village of Brewster. At 9:30 am we will begin our march to Markel Park for our Opening Day ceremonies, followed by hot dogs and beverages, then games throughout the day.
