PLAYOFF FORMAT

2016 Regional Playoffs

This regional playoff format is to determine regional team standing and to determine which 2 teams will represent Region 28 in the Area 11E tournament.

For a team to qualify to play in the regional playoffs they must meet the following criteria:

·       The coach for the team must be certified appropriately in the division they are coaching
·       The team must have at least 3 referees certified by AYSO
·       The team MUST complete referee assignments equal to half their scheduled games
·       Coach cannot be sent off more than 2 time (unless the first send off  deemed  more than one game suspension)
·       The team must have no more than 2 player send offs
·       Every player must play at least 50% of the regular season games

Playoffs spot will be drawn on the day when regular season ends. Draw will be after the last game of the day, time to follow. Each coach will draw a number which will then seed his/her team. If the coach is not present then a Board Member will draw for that coach.

**A team’s playoff standing and ranking are deemed null and void without meeting the above criteria.

 The playoff will be played in the following format:

 The team that meets all of the criteria stated above and finishes in 1st place will receive 1 of the 2 invitations to the area playoffs. The 2nd invitation will be determined by a tournament for teams that have fulfilled the above criteria.

 4 Teams per Division

Team 1 get a bye

Team  2 vs Team 3 (Game A)
Winner of Game A vs Team 1

Team one will have a bye for the first game. Team 2 and Team 3 will play against each other and the winner will play team one. The winner of that will advance to area playoffs.

 5 Teams per Division

Team 1 vs Team 2                (Game A)
Team 3 vs Team 4                (Game B)
Winner of A vs Winner of B             (Game C)

 Winners of game A will play against the winner of game B  with the winner advancing to area playoffs

 6 Teams per Division

Team 1 gets a bye for the first game
Team 2 vs Team 3                (Game A)
Team 4 vs Team 5                (Game B)
Winner of Game A vs Winner of Game B   (Game C)
Winner of Game C vs Team 1

The winner of the game A will play against winner of game B. The winner of game C will play team 1 with the winner advancing to area playoffs.

7 Teams per Division

 
Team 1 vs Team 2
Team 3 vs Team 4
Team 5 vs Team 6

 Each team will one game with the winner by points will have bye for the second game. Points will be awarded in the following system.  Seven points for the win, one point for each goal scored up to three, three points for a tie, no points awarded for shut out. The other two winners will play each other with the winner advancing to play with the team that had the most points. The winner of that game will advance to area playoffs.

 
8 Teams per Division

Team 1 gets a bye
Team 2 vs Team 3                (Game A)
Team 4 vs Team 5                (Game B)
Team 6 vs Team 7                (Game C)
Winners of game A-C will ten draw a number to see who will play the team 1 which will be game D. The other two team will play each other, which will be game E.

Draw 3 vs Team 1                (Game E)
Draw 1 vs Draw 2                (Game D)
Winner of game D vs Winner of Game E (Game F)

The winner of game F will advance to area playoffs.

9 Teams per Division

 Two pools of four with the winner of each pool to play each other with the winner advancing to area playoffs.

Points will be awarded as follows seven point for a win, one point for each goal scored (max 3) and three points for a tie.

 Tie Breakers

Tie breakers as follows:

1.     Head to Head
2.     Goal differential (goals score minus goals received)
3.     Coin toss

1.     Extra Time

a.     U10  Two - five min. halves
b.     U12  Two-six min halves
c.     U14 Two-seven min halves

2.     Penalties kicks

New Rules and Regulations: Heading the Ball

February 15, 2016

I. HEADING THE BALL

1. Consistent with the U.S. Soccer mandates on heading the ball, heading is banned for all division players U-11 (U-12 and below for programs without single age divisions) and below in both practices and games.

Heading for players in U-14 is limited to a maximum of thirty (30) minutes per week with no more than 15-20 headers, per player. There is no restriction on heading in matches.

2. An indirect free kick will be awarded to the opposing team if a player age 10 or younger, deliberately touches the ball with his/her head during a game.

a. The indirect free kick is to be taken from the place where the player touched the ball with his/her head.

b. An indirect free kick awarded to the attacking team inside the opposing team’s penalty area, must be taken  on the penalty area line parallel to the goal line at the point nearest to where the player touched the ball with  his/her head.

3. Neither cautions nor send offs shall be issued for persistent infringement or denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity related to the heading infraction.

  • Cards must have players First and Last names
  • Card must be in jersey number order
  • Coach and assistant coach must be listed on game card
