The Duluth all-area teams were announced today with a number of Gitch players involved. Duluth East senior Seth Hoffman, who has been with Gitch for 9 years, was also announced All-Area player of the year.

East, ranked No. 1 heading into the playoffs, went 19-1-2, not losing until the final second of the season when Stillwater Area scored to win 2-1. Taken from the Duluth News Tribune prep boys soccer story, Seth said “We were super close but when I look back, I look at the amazing run we had and how fun it was to be with the boys, we fell one short, and it was a heartbreaker, but overall it was a successful season.” 

Hoffman, the Greyhounds’ playmaking senior central midfielder, scored 15 goals and had a Northland-best 27 assists en route to earning the News Tribune’s All-Area Player of the Year award.

9 of the 11 remaining players are also current Gitch players. Keegan Chastey, Jon Faynik, Conor Feyen, Oliver Hassler, Peyton Marshak, Popo Perrault, Maverick Peterson and Michael Reichoff. 

On the girl's side, 3 Gitch players made the All-Area team. Maren Friday, Victoria Thorson and Gianna Kneepkens. 

Well done to all of our players and coaches in High School Soccer this season. It was a special one.
