  • Cleats (although not required, are HIGHLY recommended)
There could be additional "team" fees, if the team as whole decides that they would like to attend more tournaments, or would like additional training time.

Which age group is appropriate for my child?
The age is currently related to the athletes birth year.. Players will be allowed to try out for teams one year above their age group. Soccer teams are grouped by birth years, not school years. All players born in the same calendar year are age appropriate for the same age group, regardless of what grade they are in.

Who will coach the teams?
Teams will be coached by parent volunteers and supported by our partner Butler United’s coaching staff. We must have a coach committed to the team before we can form a team. Players must play at least 1 season at the U8 age level before going to a premier team.
Anyone interested in coaching should send an email to [email protected] for additional information.

How are teams named on the schedule?
Teams are usually named using their gender and birth year (ex: ESC G12 Purple is a Girls team of players born in 2012)

When are tryouts?
Tryouts are held at the end of May each year. Tryouts are for 1 year (Fall and Spring), and a supplemental tryout will be held for Spring (if needed). Tryouts are held at 7 Mile Park in Eaton, OH. The Eaton Soccer Club board members will be actively engaged in tryouts.

How will my child be evaluated?
To tryout, the player must first create an account and register. There is no charge to tryout. Only those that are offered and accept will pay a registration fee. Tryout registration is to ensure that we have all your correct and current contact information.
Registering will allow us to contact you with the results of the tryout along with any information about programs that the club may be offering. Registration only takes a few minutes.

During tryouts coaches will be assessing many different things about each player. A player's skill level and knowledge will be assessed along with their attitude and ability to be coached. These assessments will take place during a predetermined set of drills and small sided games that will take place during the tryouts. Each player will be placed with their age group to be evaluated by coaches of the teams in that specific age group. Players will be notified about their tryout status within 48 hours after the last day of tryouts. When a player is selected to a team, they will receive an email with a link to accept the position and pay the registration fee. Players will be accepting for the Fall season only.

My child is interested, but unable to make tryouts. Can he/she have an individual tryout?
Individual tryouts are not encouraged, part of your child's evaluation is the interaction with other players. However, it will be considered in unique or extreme situations, but any individual tryout must be completed before the general tryouts.

When does the season start?
Practices will start early/mid July. Games will start at end of August and run through the end of October. There will be 8 league games (4 home, 4 away), depending on the size of the division in which the team competes. Teams will be eligible to participate in local or area tournaments but this at an additional cost and is not included in the league fee. Teams may enter tournaments at the coach and teams’ discretion.

Where/when will practices/training be held?
Each team will have a minimum of two 1.5 hour practices per week. Coaches may add/remove practices based on game and tournament schedules. Practices will be held at 7 Mile Park in Eaton, OH. Specific days will be determined after team selections and field availability.

Who will my child's team play against?
Regular season games will be against other Premier teams from the Cincinnati or Dayton area. Tournaments are chosen by the team, and can be as local or as far away as the team chooses to travel.

How many players are on a team?
The number of players per team that are on the field during the game is an important way for defining play format. 7v7 means that each team has 7 players on the field during the game - this includes the goalie. Here are the play formats by age grouping:
  • U8 is the earliest that players are allowed to compete in a MVYSA league, but they generally have to play up in a U9 division
  • U9 & U10 play 7v7, these are the youngest age groups with full divisions and participation
  • U11 & U12 play 9v9, with full divisions and participation
  • U13-U15 play 11v11 in the Fall and Spring, with full divisions and participation

Where will games be held?
Home games will be played on a format-appropriate field at 7 Mile Park in Eaton, OH. Away games are in the Cincinnati or Dayton area depending on age group and league assignment.

How long is the season?
Eaton Soccer Club Premier runs August to October.
