G.O.A.L. Projects 2016

Durango Youth Soccer Association, in partnership with Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, introduced the G.O.A.L. program in 2010 to encourage players to give back to their community with off-field volunteer efforts in community service. Over the years several teams have stepped up to assist with volunteer projects that they found both rewarding and a teambuilding opportunity. DYSA is committed to the G.O.A.L. program because it helps our members understand that they can make a difference. Community service and volunteerism are an investment in our community and the people who live in it. It brings people together, provides physical and mental rewards, strengthens your community, and promotes personal growth.

DYSA is planning to host these volunteer team initiatives:

  •  After School Soccer Camp - DYSA will visit various elementary schools in the community and host a free soccer clinic.
  • TOPSoccer -  an one day event for adults and children with disabilities. Participants will spend the afternoon with Fort Lewis College and DYSA athletes participating is a variety of soccer-related activities. Program was developed by US Youth Soccer Association.
  • Uniform/Gear Drive -  coordinated by DYSA Student-Athlete Evan Schertz. Donations will go to remote village in southern Nicaragua named El Castillo
  • Trash pickup day
  • Recycling - plastic recycling program at Shootout and Escalante
  • Suggest a cause - teams or individuals can suggest a volunteer activity that benefits the community
