Welcome to Oakland Football Young Pats

Cheerleading

Oakland Patriots Youth Football and Cheerleading mission is to develop our athletes into mature young people. We will help our athletes become successful student-athletes by teaching a great work ethic, instilling self-discipline, encouraging a positive attitude and teach valuable life lessons. OPYF will give each child the opportunity to use our teaching to become an asset to our community.

Requirements:

A positive attitude and a smile!

§   Registration Fees Due at time of Sign-Up.   SEE FEE CHART AT BOTTOM

§  Copy of Birth Certificate and signed Parent Code of Conduct.

§  Cheerleader must attend at least one uniform fitting during the summer. Dates TBA

§  Cheerleader will be expected to attend at least one practice a week- this is very important, especially when practicing with your cheer squad and preparing for games.

§  Cheerleaders must be prepared for games, which includes properly wearing uniform, hair pulled back in a ponytail, have full water bottle and be at games at least 30 minutes before start time in order to check-in with cheer coach and properly stretch before each game.

 Cheer Guidelines and Information:

§  Email is the MAIN SOURCE of communication- please check your email often to be aware of changes/cancellations for practices, games and events! Also, please send an email any time that your cheerleader will be absent for a practice, game or event.

§  Parents are welcome to stay at practices -you may want to bring a chair or blanket! Parents are asked to remain on the sidelines during practices and to ask coaches questions before or after practice.

§  Practices will begin promptly at 6:00pm and will last for about 1.5 hours. Time will vary once we break into squads.

§  Each squad will be REQUIRED to have at least one Coach and one Team Mom (see below for requirements/tasks for these volunteer positions).

§  Siblings of OPYfootball players will be assigned first to their brother's team and then we will fill in where needed. Cheer siblings will be assigned to the same squad. Friend requests are welcome but are not always fulfilled; we will do our best to keep friends together but there are no guarantees!

§  Squads will consist of mixed ages due to the fact that we place siblings together on squads and with brother's team.

§  Cheerleaders will have the opportunity to participate in the league picture day. More details will be emailed when made available.

§  The cheerleaders will be able to attend the playoff games and we are currently looking into other events such as a jamboree and homecoming for both cheerleaders and football players to attend. Details will be available soon so watch your email and visit our website; you can also like us on Facebook.

Coaches and Team Moms:

§  Parents are asked to consider volunteering to be a Coach or Team Mom. We do ask that volunteers are female because of working so closely with our girls. All Volunteers must pass the Free Concussion Test after watching online video at CDC.gov

§  Each squad is REQUIRED to have at least one coach and one team mom.

§  Requirements for a Coach include passing a background check, TNYFL cheer coach certification (a small fee is associated with this), a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and teach.

§  Expectations for a Coach Include being at all practices and games, working with your squad to make sure they are performing safely and correctly, leading squads while at practices and games, communicating with parents and football coaches about time/location changes, etc. There will be meetings for coaches and team moms at least once a month so everyone is up-to-date!

§  Requirements for a Team Mom include a positive attitude and a willingness to support your squad and squad coach, be at all games (or have a backup parent) and be in regular communication with squad coach and football team coach.

§  Expectations for Team Mom include coordinating drinks/snacks at games, assisting squad coach at games (ie- taking girls to the restroom if needed during game) and practices; overall task is supporting squad coach where ever needed!
