Overview:  Cougar Athletics Association provided an environment of team cooperation and spirit in sports.   Our goal to enhance the St. Joseph Catholic School and Parish through sports (basketball and volleyball).  Basketball has a long and lustrous history at SJCS and we look forward to further building our history and expanding our Cougar Basketball family.

Little Cougars (K–2): Lil’ Cougar basketball is a developmental / instructional co-ed program for Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The program will be conducted on Sunday morning from 10:00 to 12:00. The program is dedicated to the fun of competition, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and participation.  The program normally begins practicing in  November and concludes by the end of January.

Grades 3-8:  Both boys and girls, in grades 3-8 compete in the Catholic Metro League of Atlanta (CMLA) against other parish teams in the greater Atlanta area.  The league is dedicated to the fun of competition with an emphasis on sportsmanship and participation.  Practices begin in early October with league play beginning the first weekend in November and concludes the last Sunday in January.

For grades 3-4 the league is recreational with no playoffs and the main purpose is to develop basketball skills and learn the rules of the game.  This league plays a 9-10 game season without an end of season tournament.

For grades 5-8 the league becomes semi-competitive in terms of having a regular season consisting  of 9-10 games with a championship tournament . The league is consider semi-competitive because the main philosophy of the league  is not to win at all cost but to learn the game of basketball keeping sportsmanship and Christianity an integral part of the league.

High School:  High school basketball is a continuation of the CMLA program for high school students that are NOT playing for their high school team. It provides an opportunity for our players to continue the friendships that they began at SJCS and remain part of the St. Joseph community after graduation.  Practices begin the weekend after Thanksgiving and the season runs from January through February.  8-10 games are played early on Sunday afternoons.  Here is the Registration Link:  https://clubs.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=675228
