Eastside Little League Baseball FAQ

  1. 1.  What ages can participate in ELL baseball?

ELL Baseball is open to boys and girls ages 4-16.  Age refers to what is known as ‘league age’ which is the age of the child on September 1st of the year in which baseball will be played.  For example: Baseball season is in 2022.  Susie is 6 and turns 7 on Oct. 9th, 2022.  Johnny is 6 and turns 7 on July 29th, 2022.  Susie is league age 6 and Johnny is league age 7, even though both actually be 6 during the actual baseball season.  This places Susie in T-ball and Johnny in Pitching Machine.  See next question.

  1. 2.  What are the age limits for each division?

  2. T-ball is 4-6.

    Pitching Machine is 7-8.

    Minors is 9-10.

    Majors is 11-12.

    Intermediates (when applicable) is 13.

    Juniors/Seniors is 14-16.

A child who is league age 7 MUST move up to Pitching Machine and cannot play t-ball.

  3. 3.  When does the season take place?

The season runs from the beginning of April through the end of June.  Practices take place in April with games running in May and June.  Tryouts is typically in March.

  1. 4.  On what days are practices and games?

Practices and games will typically be twice per week with some variation.  The actual days of practices and games will vary and is typically contained within the week with some potential for Saturdays and Sundays periodically.  This depends on the number of teams for each division and on weather throughout the season.

  1. 5.  Does my child have to earn a spot on a team and can they be cut?  Are they guaranteed playing time?

Tryouts are merely to help us generate teams that begin as equal as possible relative to skill level.  All players who register will have a spot on a team.  All players will play.  Our batting order is continuous, meaning each player has a spot in the batting order.  Players must also average playing 2 defensive innings, or 6 continuous outs in the field.

  1. 6.  How do I register?

You can register online or at our open registration events.  Please see the website for the open registration timing.  It is typically held in January or February of each year.  You can also register at tryouts, though it is best to register prior to tryouts.

  1. 7.  What equipment is required and is any equipment supplied by the league?

The league will provide a jersey, hat, pants, and socks for all divisions except for t-ball.  T-ball provides jersey and hat.  Players will typically provide cleats, baseball glove, and bats.  The league provides game balls for each team for each game.  Bats must have the USA Baseball logo on them in order to be legal for play.

  1. 8.  Does this league have softball teams?

Currently ELL offers baseball only open to both boys and girls but would like to offer softball soon.

  1. 9.  Does ELL have teams that participate in Little League Tournaments?

Yes!  Players must try out and be accepted to make any tournament teams.  Please see the website or contact the league board for more information.

  1. 10.  If my question isn’t answered here, how can I contact the league?

You can click on the Our Board tab at the top of the home page and contact information for the board is listed there.  Please start with the Communications Director first and the Secretary second.
