- Encourage effort, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Focus on what players are doing well.
Let the Coaches Coach- Coaches are responsible for player instruction and game strategy.
- Avoid giving directions or coaching from the sidelines.
- Conflicting instructions can confuse players and affect their performance.
Respect All Players- Support every player's development and enjoyment of the game.
- Refrain from criticizing players on either team.
- Remember that youth sports are about learning, growth, and having fun.
Respect Officials- Referees are doing their best to ensure a fair and safe game.
- Treat all officials with courtesy and respect.
- Do not argue, criticize, or confront referees before, during, or after games.
Demonstrate Good Sportsmanship- Be respectful toward opposing players, coaches, and spectators.
- Celebrate success with humility and accept setbacks with grace.
- Help create a welcoming atmosphere for everyone involved.
Address Concerns Appropriately- If you have concerns about coaching decisions or team matters, arrange a private conversation with the coach at an appropriate time.
- Please do not discuss concerns during games or in front of players.
Set a Positive ExampleChildren learn by watching the adults around them. Your behavior on the sidelines teaches valuable lessons about respect, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
