Bethel Park Youth Lacrosse
Spring 2021 COVID-19 Safety Guidelines (Phase B)
Guidelines
The season will adhere to the pod population guidelines per facility as outlined in communication from the Bethel Park Recreation Department. Keep in mind:
· Each field space is not to exceed 90 people.
· Parents are not to go on the lined fields during practices or games.
· BPYLA encourages a drop off/pick up format but does not require it.
· Parent spectators must remain socially distanced near the fields and are encouraged to wear masks when moving around or in groups.
· Parents are not to approach or assist a player other than their own child unless they are properly masked.
Player Participation
Players are encouraged to wear a mask when entering the field or when congregating before the activity but are not required to wear a mask while actively engaging in practices or games. Players are asked to respect physical distance during sideline interaction or idle moments during instruction. Games will not include a handshake line with the opposing team.
Players are also asked to:
· Bring their own personal water bottle to every practice and game.
· Not share equipment.
· Answer basic health questions for the safety of all.
Coach Participation
Coaches are to have a mask on their person for all practices and games. It may be lowered for instruction from a distance but should be utilized during close coaching. They will also regularly disinfect equipment bags and pieces that are consistently used or shared at practices and games.
Health Reporting
Players, parents, and coaches are encouraged to stay home if they feel sick before a practice or game.
If a player or a member of their household exposed to someone who is positive for COVID-19, or if a player or member of their household have been positively diagnosed with COVID-19 or are awaiting test results, we ask that you not attend your practice or game and report this information to your head coach.
The BPYLA board would like to keep track of all exposures or cases should we need to adjust guidelines, perform contact tracing, or alert others of exposure. Your communication and transparency will help keep our organization running safely.
There may be times when it is necessary for us to ask:
· Are you currently feeling ill?
· Are you experiencing any of the following: fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, or loss of taste or smell?
· Have you been in contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19?
· Are you currently awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test?
Temperature screenings will take place on BP game days for home and visiting teams only. Spectators will not be scanned but should use proper judgement about coming to the field if they are feeling ill. We all must do our best to stop the spread within youth sports.
Observation and Rule Adherence
BPYLA will have board members on site to monitor the activity and ensure that participants, coaches, and parents follow the rules and remain safe.
