Mary, Queen of Heaven is excited to offer students the ability to participate in the NASP Archery program. NASP stands for National Archery in the Schools Program. The National Archery in the Schools program is an in-school program aimed at improving educational performance among students in grades 4th -12th. Through the NASP program students are learning self-control, discipline, patience, and the life lessons required to be successful in the classroom and in life.

Grade School Teams

4th - 8th Grades - Archery is open to all students in grades 4th-8th. Unlike traditional team sports, Archery does not have specific grade level teams, rather each archer has the ability to contribute to the team overall.

Interested 4th Grade Students
Archery is a fun sport and helps develop great skills both in and out of the classroom. All NASP equipment is created to have a universal fit. Draw weight (the among of pounds to pull the string back) is adjustable from 10-20 lbs. This just means your archer needs to have the strength to pull back 10 lbs of force. Strength does improve throughout the season, however we do not have the ability to make any draw weight less than 10 pounds. As mentioned previously, NASP archery is open for all students in grades 4th -12th. There is a probability your 4th grade student will at some point be competing next to a high school archer, as all grades levels participate together. The information given above is to help guide you on whether your student is ready to join the team. We would love to have every 4th grader participate, however we also realize they may not yet be physically or mentally mature enough to start this early.

Equipment:
It is not a requirement for any student to have their own equipment to join our team. MQH has several NASP Genesis bows available for students to use both at practice and in competition. Students using school bows will be fit for a bow and will be able to use the same one throughout the entire season. School bows along with Easton certified arrows will be transported to every competition by a MQH team coach.
