U9/U10 Competitive Program
The Competitive program is for players who desire an advanced training environment and match experience. Beginning at the U9 age group, the program is set up as a 2 year preparation program for competitive soccer. The program is a significant commitment for players and families. Teams will practice two times per week for 75 minutes each session. There will be 24-48 players selected per age group/gender. There is a lead coach in charge of the player pool with help from other professionally licensed coaches. The placement of league play within the Colorado Youth Soccer league will be assisted by the St. Vrain FC coaching staff. In the state league, the teams will play half the games at Sandstone Sports complex in Longmont and half the games away. Games can be played as far North as Ft.Collins and as far South as Colorado Springs. The program opens the door for teams and players to play at a more advanced level moving forward to competitive soccer at the U11 age group. Coaches - All U9/U10 coaches receive professional training. A minimum of a USSF "E" License or it's equivalent is required to coach in the AP program. Please contact Timothy Laxson if you are interested in becoming a coach.
Games - The Fall and Spring seasons are made up of 8-10 games, generally preceded by two weeks of training. Games are played on Saturday, home games will be played in Longmont and the away games will be played along the I-25 corridor (Ft. Collins to Colorado Springs). Games are played 7v7 (6 field players and a goalie) with two, 25-minute halves. Referees will officiate each game. In some cases, these may be junior referees - please be patient with them as they learn the game, they are doing their best.
