AYSO Region 1225 Team Parent Handbook

Thank you for volunteering to be a team parent for your child’s team. You are an important part of your child’s soccer experience and will provide invaluable assistance to your team’s coaches.

What is my role as a Team Parent?

You are the team manager. In fact, that is a much more fitting title than “team parent”. As the team manager, you help the coach and the team by facilitating, communicating and delegating. You are there to coordinate the things that need to be done. This frees up the coaches to do what they are there to do – coach the kids!

First take care of the requirements to be a team parent.

• Apply as a new volunteer or a returning volunteer and take the “AYSO Safe Haven” course if you have not already done so in a prior season.
• Complete your volunteer form online at www.eayso.org for 2017 by logging in and clicking “Sign Up” under Returning or New Volunteer.
• After you have your AYSO ID number, go to www.aysotraining.org and log in. Click on “MT02 AYSO’s Safe Haven” course and complete. Your record will be updated.

 Below is a list of the primary tasks for a team. 

• Prepare a phone and e-mail roster and distribute to the team
• Create a snack schedule 
• Communication information from the coaches to the players and their parents (schedules, changes, game information, etc.)
• Manage the team website (if team decides to have a Shutterfly account for calendar, pictures, snack schedules and parent communications)
• In charge of finding and purchasing trophies for end of the season
• Help coach and team comply with AYSO safety rules and regulations
• Encourage positive sideline behavior at both games and practices
