Whether this is your first experience in youth football, or you are returning as a veteran, we want your experience in football to be fun, exciting and a great learning experience.

The Colchester Catamounts are part of the Northern Vermont Youth Football League, which has been in existence for over thirty years. The league consists of fifteen teams located from Newport to Montpelier. The Catamounts have a flag football program for players in grades 1-4 and two tackle programs for grades 5-6 and grades 7-8. The Varsity tackle programs play their home games at Colchester High School on Saturdays.

Our Tackle program begins for kids in the 5th and 6th grade, with Varsity and JV levels within those grades. There’s more competition at this level and kids will be placed on JV or Varsity based on their skill and time in the program. We participate in USA Football’s Heads-up program so kids learn the fundamentals of tackling with certified Heads-up coaches to learn the proper ways to play at this level. Offensive plays become more advanced and kids will learn more fundamentals of tackling and play a 5-3 defense in all games as do the rest of the league teams. Regular season Varsity home games are played on Saturday’s at the Colchester High School field and JV home games are played during the middle of the week at the Den field. Away games are played at other town fields.
