Outdoor Soccer
We have two outdoor soccer programs at SRYSA: Academy soccer, with games played on Saturdays; and Travel soccer with games played on Sundays. Travel and Academy seasons consist of 8 games. We practice and hold most of our games in Harrisville at the athletic fields. The u14 and u16 travel teams play their home games at the Slippery Rock High School football stadium.
Winter Academy - Indoor Soccer Training
SRYSA is offering an indoor soccer training program this winter. Dates and times to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
Academy Soccer
Academy Soccer plays games on Saturdays at local fields. Ages are from 5 to 8 years old. Academy plays a 3v3 game format called Funino. Funino is a great way to learn the game and is perfect for younger players and beginning older players. Playing small sided soccer games increases a players game-time touches on the ball by 300%. The more touches a player has on the ball the faster they develop eye-foot coordination. All Academy teams practice on Wednesdays, where SRYSA holds a skills and drills day. To register for academy soccer, log in or create an account and the website will give you a list of program options. Choose Academy Soccer Saturday games. Also, you will need to order Academy jerseys. Please note, you must provide your own soccer cleats, shin guards, soccer socks, and black shorts.
Travel Soccer
Travel soccer plays games on Sundays and provides regional competition for our teams. Ages are 9 to 18 years old. Travel soccer is for experienced players who have been practicing for several seasons. There is a greater time commitment and usually a minimum of two practices per week and games on Sundays, with four home games and four away games. Travel team practice is scheduled at the coach's discretion. This season we are bringing in professional coaches to teach ball skills. To register for travel soccer, log in or create an account and the website will give you a list of program options. Choose Travel Soccer Sunday games. Also, you will need to order a travel uniform which consists of Adidas jerseys, Adidas shorts, and socks. Please note, you must provide your own soccer cleats and shin guards. Travel soccer players should bring their own ball to practices.
Travel Soccer Player Pool
There is a new program that SRYSA now has access to with PA-West (the organization that runs the travel soccer leagues) called a “player pool”. In the past a player had to either be categorized as part of the Travel Soccer Program or part of the In-House (Academy) Soccer Program. The Player Pool Program gives the club more roster flexibility. We can have a player rostered to play Saturday soccer but also have them in the player pool and let them participate in several Sunday travel soccer games during the season. This way kids and parents can see what travel soccer is like without making the commitment to a full travel season. Additionally, it gives us the option of adding kids to the player pool who may be participating in another sport during the season but still want to play a few travel soccer games as their schedule allows. This is the third season for the player pool and it is available to register for online. If you feel this may be something you are interested in, or need more information on, please contact us and we can answer any questions.
Summer Academy - Goalie training and Striking/Finishing
This training session meets for two days and focuses on striking the ball and goalie training. Dates and times to be announced.
