Boston Stars Hockey - About Igor Gratchev

Boston Stars Youth Hockey Igor Gratchev
The Boston Stars Hockey Club was created by Igor Gratchev to help young hockey players pursue their dreams of playing hockey at the very highest levels of international competition.

Igor was born and raised in Novosibirsk, Siberia.  He didn't play organized hockey until he was 12 years old.  Still, that didn't stop him from being selected to play for the U18 Central Red Army team.  And after just one year of skating on the Central Red Army team, Igor was signed to his first pro contract.  Igor went on to play in the Super Hockey League in Russia for several years where he competed with many of the world’s most accomplished hockey professionals.  His professional career spanned fourteen years as a premier Russian Hockey player.

In the 1990s, Igor relocated to the United States where he began to organize an elite hockey program, known today as MaxPro Hockey School which has the skills program, as well as Boston Stars and the MaxPro Jets.

Although no longer involved in ownership with the club, Igor coaches the 2003 MaxPro Jets and also helps his son Max run MaxPro Skills

"The basics for my teaching strategy is to combine the strongest Russian and North American Hockey training techniques. Russia has been a dominant force in international Hockey for the past several decades because of the rigorous methods used in training and educating hockey players and in focus with techniques. The emphasis of my program is on the development of skating techniques and game strategies. As you know, skillful skating techniques are an important part of becoming an accomplished hockey player. In my program, I incorporate all the traditional powerful straight-ahead approach of American skating, as well as the high speed fluid maneuverability of the Russians. I will also work on combining the team tactics of the Russian tradition with the more assertive tactics of the North American Strategy."
