2015-2016 Executive Board

The ALYBF holds elections at the October Meeting of even numbered years. The most recent election took place on October 1, 2014. The following ALYBF Members have volunteered and were elected and/or appointed to serve on the Executive Board for the 2015 and 2016 baseball and softball seasons.

Elected Officers

	President: Jonathan R. Leonard Jon is in his third full two-year term as President after taking over a partial term when former-President Ken Milota and his family relocated in January of 2010. Jon has been a member of the ALYBF since 1999 and has served in the elected capacities of Vice-President and President. Jon has also been the Assistant Umpire Director, Assistant Director of Major/Minors, Concession Coordinator, Director of Ways and Means, Thurman Munson League Director and has been an Umpire, Asst. Coach and Manager at various levels. Jon is a lifelong Avon Lake resident who attended Kent State University and Cleveland State University where he studied Sociology with a concentration in Criminology. 	Vice-President of Operations: Keith Smith Keith is in his 2nd term as Vice-President of Operations. He started with the ALYBF as a Umpire in 1992. He's been a member of the ALYBF since 1998. He's been Umpire Director since 2001. He is Director of Fields, has served as Sticker night Chairman since 2002 and has served on various other committees over the years. He is a Certified High School official in 4 sports. He works High School Baseball and Softball, High School Basketball, and High School and College Football. He attended both Bradley University and the University of Kansas, majoring in Accounting and Education. He was also in the Army ROTC program at Kansas. He's worked at Day-Glo Color Corp for over 30 years in both Production and Transportation. He is also a member of their Emergency Response Team. He and his wife Linda have lived in the same house in Avon Lake since 1988. They have 3 Children, 7 Grandkids and 2 rescue dogs. You can contact Keith by email at [email protected].
	Vice-President of Finance: Blake Rogers
	Secretary: Anthony Tarone This is Anthony’s second term as secretary. His first term was 2001-2003. Anthony originally became a member in 2000 but had to step out of the ALYBF for a few years due to his return to college. Anthony started with the ALYBF an umpire in 1998 and continues to umpire various ALYBF leagues. A lifelong resident of Avon Lake, Anthony recently graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems. Anthony is currently employed as Network Engineer for a Managed Services company in the area.
	Trustee: Bob Decker Robert Decker is in his 23rd year in the ALYBF. Robert started in 1992 with his son in the 6 year old program. Since 1992 he has been a league director in all the boys leagues except Major-Minors. Robert also ran the girls program following his daughter through all the leagues. He started the 5 year old program in 1993 for both boys and girls. He has held the executive offices of Secretary, Vice President and was President in 1998-1999. In 1998 Robert became an Ohio Certified Umpire and officiates for high schools and summer leagues. He has been umpiring for 17 years. Robert headed the committee to rebuild Weiss Field which was completed in 2008. He also served on the Concession Committee which rebuilt Weiss Concession Stand and dedicated the structure to the city in 2012.
	Trustee: Joe Drapcho Joe has been involved in the ALYBF since he started coaching T-ball for his 2 children in 1999. He continued his volunteer coaching all the way through the boys Jr.Thurman Munson league. After leaving coaching and wanting to stay active in the ALYBF, he took over duties to help run the Equipment room. These duties involve the upkeep and the purchasing of every aspect of the equipment bags for well over 80 teams in the boys and girls leagues. He has lived in Avon Lake since 1994 and is married with 2 college age children. He is a graduate of Youngstown State University and is the owner of Quality Executive Search Inc.
	Trustee: Tyra Taylor In 2006, Tyra joined the ALYBF with a desire to modernize the organization. Toward that goal, she created the online registration process and wrote the Background Check Policy currently in effect for all of our youth's coaches and managers. She has served as the Travel Baseball Liaison and the Kid Safe /Child Safety Coordinator. From 2012-2014, she served as Secretary and is currently holding the Trustee position. Since 2012, she has been a member of the Federation's Executive Board and By-Law Committee. Tyra is an Avon Lake resident and her two son's have played for the Federation at various times. She and her husband, Pat, have been involved with youth sports across the city. In her day job, she is an attorney who currently serves as Magistrate in the Domestic Relations Court of Lorain County, Ohio.
Appointed Senior Directors
	Senior Director of Marketing: Rick Urbin Rick joined the ALYBF in 1989 and also began coaching youth baseball the same year. Following several early member meetings, his first two committee assignments were with the Ways and Means committee and on the Tee ball and Pee Wee baseball committee. Beginning his second year Rick volunteered as Tee Ball and Coach Pitch League Director. His passion working with youth and teaching fundamentals of the sport led him to remain as director for five years while also coaching Minor/Major baseball. As Rick was studying the Little League Baseball and Softball manuals along with other manuals, magazines, and online sources of the time; he also found an interest in umpiring as well as the need to bring Avon Lake’s fledgling girls softball programs up to speed. At this time the internet was beginning to explode and this, as we know today is probably our greatest resource other than the valuable lessons we learn from our own experiences. Over the years, Rick has been appointed as committee chair on several of the ALYBF standing committees, as well as member or Chairman of many of the Ad Hoc committees as the needs arose. He has also served as the Director of Ways and Means, Umpire Director, Tournament Director, Manager of concessions, Secretary and Vice President of the ALYBF.
