THREE GOLDS AND A SILVER FOR WC EAGLES AT DISNEY

For the third year in a row, WC Eagles won three gold medals at the 2015 Disney Showcase tournament which was held last week in Orlando, Florida. Continuing their incredible run of success at the Disney Showcase Tournament, the WC Eagles U16 Blue team won their fifth consecutive Gold Medal while the U16 White team won Gold for the third year in a row. In the U19 Division, it was the U19 Blue team’s fourth consecutive Gold Medal while the U19 White team won the Silver Medal for the second straight year.

With a new competition format for 2015, the teams were ranked by results through the initial pool play as they went into the cross-over tournament structure. Both WC Eagles U16 Blue and U19 Blue teams were ranked #1 in their age groups.

The WC Eagles U19 Blue team, who finished with an 8 – 0 record, were the highest scoring team in the Under 19 age group, outscoring their opponents 64 – 2. In the Final of the top U19 Division they beat Mystx 4 – 0 to secure the fourth consecutive Disney Gold Medal for the WC Eagles U19 Blue team.

WC Eagles U19 White came exceptionally close to winning Gold as they went through their 8 games undefeated, winning 7 games and drawing with Jersey Intensity 0 – 0 in the Final before loosing in a shoot-out. U19 White was the only team in the Disney Tournament not to concede a goal in the entire event.

In the Under 16 age group, WC Eagles Blue swept to an 7 – 0 record, beating H2O in the U16 Final 7 – 0 and outscoring their opponents 47 – 1 as they went on to win their 5th consecutive Disney Gold Medal and 7th overall in the nine years of the competition.

After a 0 – 0 draw in Pool Play against Gateway, St Louis, WC Eagles U16 White fought back through the knock-out rounds and into the Semi-Final where they beat Alley Cats in a penalty shoot-out to get to the Final. Scoring early in the game, WC Eagles U16 White held on to their 1 – 0 lead to beat the Saints from Virginia and capture their Gold Medals for the third year in a row.
