During the second week of competition, the Stowe Area Flag Football League saw its 150 players displaying their talents to hundreds of their fans. Onlookers were treated to several high-scoring games fueled by many offensive and defensive touchdowns.

| DIVISION 1 |

Steelers 39 - Raiders 32
The Steelers opened up quickly, scoring a touchdown on their first posession with a run by Carter McDonald, and a successful PAT pass from Tucker Buffam to Maxi Hoder. The Raiders answered quickly with a huge touchdown reception from power wide receiver Kason Lang who was set up after a few carries from RB Sam Clarkin. After a strong first week it was once again return of Beast Mode- Ian Zimmerman as he scored a long range running touchdown to take the lead. Strong defensive performances by leading flag puller Noah Lynch and an interception by Tanner "Revis Island" Hackett left the Raiders in great shape heading into the second quarter. The second Steeler score came in the second quarter when QB Gianni Goldstein completed a pass to McDonald. An Interception by Carter McDonald late in first half, a result of pressure by Maxi Hoder, and excellent pass rushing by Tyler Scarlotta and Eliza Cabot throughout kept the game close. The Raiders wide receiver Gus Wright pulled in a few passes from Ian Zimmerman to set up Maximus Romano for a running touchdown to take back the lead. At the half, the Raiders led the Steelers 20-13. In the second half, the Steelers scored again on their first possession with a fantastic 70 yard run by Austin Welch. Later in the same quarter, the Steelers scored again with a pass from Buffam to Eliza Cabot who received the ball and had a great run after the catch for the score. The Raiders defense was a bit out matched at the beginning of the third quarter but redeemed themselves with strong performances from Isaiah Thomas and Tighten Fils-Aime on defense. Quintin Lynch had an acrobatic grab over two defenders to set Ian Zimmerman up for his second TD of the day. Then after an amazing kickoff from Owen Branch he followed it up by stopping the return on the same play buy pulling a Steeler flag with authority. Late in the fourth quarter, the Raiders wide receiver Cooper Shove scored a key touchdown as the ball deflected off a teammates face with less than 2 minutes left to pull within one, but the Raiders failed to convert on the PAT. Drew Zimmermann and Cole Dorney tried to break through to the promised land but a stiff Steelers defense held the two running backs to minimal yardage. On the ensuing drive, the Steelers ran the ball on several plays to use up the clock, and with time running out, Buffum scored again to end the game with the Steelers winning 39-32 over the Raiders. 49ers 27 - Panthers 6
The 49ers put forth another solid effort. The team scored on both sides of the ball with Luke Hamel all over the field grabbing flags and an interception. Eamon Langlais had a pick six, and was solid at QB. Jake Bartolomei also had an interception. Sabin Piatek continues his outstanding kickoffs, driving the ball deep consistently! This was a great team win! The Panthers had solid defensive performances from Leander Pinkham, Lily Murphy, Grant Powell and Gavin Murphy. For the second straight week the Panther defense was able to intercept a pass as Parker Guffy stepped in front with a nice grab. It was their stellar play that kept the Panthers energized throughout the game. On offense, the Panthers had great team effort. Lead by Chase Brown and Caku Brown, with energy from Finn Clark and Samson Berlin. Quarterback Jacob McCormack connected on a pass and catch to Leander Pinkham for the Panthers touchdown. |

Cardinals 38 - Patriots 24
The Cardinals-Patriots game was a high-scoring affair. The Cardinals came out on top as a result of a few big plays on special teams and defense. Jules Gershman was their key player on special teams, with booming kick-offs and two spectacular kick-off returns for touchdowns. On one return, Luke Farley fielded the kick-off, ran 10 yards and handed to Gershman, who weaved his way 47 yards to the end zone. The Cardinals had fewer offensive possessions because of Gershman and Farley, but quarterback Max Singer connected with Gershman and Carson Matckie in the endzone and added a rushing TD. Liam Wheelwright controlled the line from his center position. On defense, Alex Lanpher was a force making tackles behind the line and knocking down passes. Alex Chudzik and Sid Cashin were excellent run-stoppers. Farley added a long touchdown of his own after intercepting a pass on his own 17 yard line. The Pats started out strong with both Charley Veit and Lewis Clapp running for TDs in the first quarter. The Pats closed out the first half with a 30 yard bomb from Aidan Robin to Boone Maher in the end zone, trailing the Cardinals 25 - 18 at half-time. Despite a strong defensive effort turned in by Colby & Keely Fisher and Evie and Wyatt Reid, the Pats struggled to contain the Cardinal offense and special teams. Lewis Clapp came back to throw a final TD pass to Boone Maher, not quite enough to avoid the Pats' first loss of the season. |

Colts 18 - Giants 6
In the second week of the D2 season, the Colts got on the board early with a dazzling run from Hans Huber. Alex McNabb, Hans Huber, and Eames Eiden led the Colts offense at the Quarterback position throughout the game. Toward the end of the first half, the Colts got on the board again with another great run from Hans. The Colts were able to keep the Giants out of the end zone until late in the second half when Daniel Lyden scored with spectacular catch and run QB Emerson Smith. The Giants offense was also highlighted with some great passing and receptions from Luca DeRuzza, Gabe Wright, David Gosselin, Isaac Medow, and James Rosenbloom. Giants played some outstanding defense led by an interception by Calvin Kontos, lead flag grabber TJ Guffey Olivia Gianni Charlie Davidow and Lucy Genung. With the Giants playing well, the Colts were able to keep their lead with a spectacular TD run from Ryan Keene who sped down the sideline for the Colts final score. The Colts running game was strong all day, with other great runs by Parker Davey, Reese Wheeler, and Cooper Olney. Leading receiver, Cam Anderson hauled in a couple great catches from Alex. The story of the day for the Colts was their strong defense, led by Cooper Olney with 2 interceptions, including one in the end zone as well as Parker Davey who pulled in an amazing pick of his own. Emma Courtemanche, Emma Dubie, Hayden Peters, Alex McNabb, and Eames Eiden and the entire team all stepped up with some big plays on defense helping lead the Colts to the win. Congratulations to both teams for a game well played. |

Patriots 31 - Cowboys 26
The Patriots started the second game of their double-header marching down the field but were intercepted on the goal line by the Cowboys. The teams exchanged possession again before Charlie Veit streaked into the end zone for the Pats. The Cowboys responded with effective screen passing up the field to get into the red zone and run in two touch downs early in the game. The Pats took to the air with Aidan Robin connecting with Avery Fish for a TD followed by Lewis Clapp throwing to Veit for another. Cowboys Izzy Mitchell, Cailin Apple, Jake Clarkin and Annecy Blanck provided strong defense as did Evie Reid for the Pats, leading 19-13 at half-time. The Cowboys came back with a strong run to pull ahead 20-19 at the opening of the 2nd half, with Charlie Kimmich pulling down a pass in the end zone for a coveted extra point. The teams remained knotted until Robin connected with Veit who scampered in for a TD. The Cowboys started their comeback but Fish picked off their first pass for his second interception and ran in for another 6 for the Pats. Cowboys' quarterbacks Ben Cabot and Chace Newhouse fought hard to move the ball down the field but were plagued by turnovers and just could not find their rhythm. The Cowboys scored in the last seconds when Emma Blanck snagged a pass in the corner of the end zone, but the Pats prevailed 31 - 26. |

Redskins 28 - Chiefs 18
The Redskins and Chiefs faced off in a wild game on Sunday. Alex Nissenbaum opened the scoring with a long touchdown run for the Redskins, and a 2 point conversion put them up 8-0. The Chiefs answered by driving down the field, only to be intercepted by the Redskins’ Andres Blanco Pernas in the end zone. The Chiefs answered with their own end zone interception, this time by Nate Rice. The Chiefs couldn’t capitalize on the turnover, though, turning the ball over on yet another interception by Charlie Alekson, which the Redskins converted into another touchdown. The Chiefs finally got on the board with a Sam Wright rushing touchdown, but missed the 2 point conversion. Defenses on both teams played the passing game well, with the game featured 8 combined interceptions. In the end, the Chiefs couldn’t close the scoring gap, and the game ended with the Redskins on top, 28-18. |
