Over the past five years, the St Vrain FC Board of Directors and Technical Staff have been creating and executing on a vision of being community-first, while providing performance-based programming for everyone. To do this, we decided on a few guiding principles:

• Community is and will always be an important ingredient to the soccer experience in the Saint Vrain Valley
• Players want and need to see a path for growth 
• Soccer is the mechanism by which we teach character and leadership, and the lessons go well beyond the game
• Financial health and investment must continue to increase in order to thrive long term

As we looked at how we can create an environment that breeds these principles, we explored many options that ranged from organic growth to partnering with entities who had achieved the next level of development we were seeking for our organization. 

Today, we are pleased to announce that one of those discussions has led us to a partnership that we believe will take us far beyond what we could have originally imagined, and we have entered into a definitive merger agreement with Real Colorado. 

 Real Colorado is a nationally recognized youth soccer club that serves almost 4,000 families in South Denver, using soccer as the mechanism to turn great kids into great adults. Their player development process is proven to create players that can compete at the highest level of elite play in the world and at the same time, they have developed a curriculum for character building that every single player can benefit from, regardless of where they choose to take their soccer. 

The Saint Vrain Valley will become the anchor for Real Colorado’s future growth into the Northern part of Colorado. This decision retains our commitment to community-based soccer programming, ensuring there are always options to play within our local community.  Additionally, this decision expands our player pathway and programming from early recreation to elite level play, with access to programs such as MLS Next and Elite Clubs National League (ECNL). More importantly, the growth that this merger will provide enables us to most appropriately match the talent, skill, and effort of each individual player over time, keeping similar players together and thereby creating a more positive experience for all. 

We know this change will bring up many questions for our families and we will do our best to answer those as quickly as possible. The most important questions will surround how this will impact you and your family. Teams will keep their current formation, coaches, and practice locations. Registration fees will remain the same for the current season with future decisions made based on inflation and value provided, not simply as a response to merging entities. Our scholarship program will continue. Coaches and players will gain access to Real Colorado programming and player development processes. Branding will be transitioned gradually and team uniforms will follow the regular refresh cycle unless teams specifically opt to transition earlier. Staff email addresses will change and the Real Colorado’s Board of Directors will govern our organization, with the addition of two members from our legacy St. Vrain Board of Directors. Other changes will be announced as they transpire, as we leverage the benefits of joining a growing organization.
