The Spartan FC 2008 Girls defeated FC 1974 GLSA 3-2 to claim the championship of the U11 Girls Junior State Cup.  The win capped off an undefeated tournament for the team which began competition in the group play stage back in April.  After winning their group of three they moved on to the semi-finals where the defeated Illinois Fire Juniors to advance to the championship game.

The team has been consistently ranked at the top of Illinois 2008 teams over the past two seasons.  The state championship continues an amazing campaign for the Spartan squad having already claimed tournament championships at the Chrystal Lake Force Classic, Palatine Celtic Cup, Sockers Nike Classic Cup and the International Border Stars Tournament.  The team will end its U11 season with a trip to Texas to compete in the prestigious Copa America next month.
