So our local youth programs are losing kids for tackle football due to poor coaching and concussion concerns....combat what's plaguing tackle football with a Spring flag football (ages 5-8) and 7on7 program (9yrs old-rising freshman).
1. Tackle is under attack due to health concerns based on how the game was taught 20-30 years ago. Bridge the gap with kids/parents by introducing the game through limited contact in flag and 7on7. Ease parents concerns through Spring ball and promote your program on how you do it right for the Fall.
2.The other biggest issue plaguing football is poor coaching. Again, the way coaches interacted with players 20-30 years ago doesn't always work with the kids today. How effective are coaches in the Spring. if your coach can not handle a team in the Spring league they probably aren't a good fit for Fall tackle.
3. Finally, grow your tackle program through registration in Spring football. The money you earn through registration and hosting games in the Spring can help with equipment and scholarships in the Fall!
