PVYA - Potomac Valley Youth Association, Inc.

Welcome to PVYA Swimming!

As part of the Frederick Summer Swim League (FSSL) we encourage informal, friendly team competition at the neighborhood pool level while providing our youth the opportunity to develop their athletic skills, positive sportsmanship, teamwork, and an appreciation for the relationship between effort and success in a wholesome and fair atmosphere.

Registration for the 2024 PVYA River Rapids swim team is now open!  We will practice and have home meets at the pool in Brunswick Crossing again this year.

Parent Orientation:
  • An In-Person Parent Orientation will be held on Wednesday, May 29th during practice.  We will be on the upper deck patio at Brunswick Crossing to answer questions during each practice session.  Attendance is not mandatory, but please feel free to stop by with any questions.

New Swimmers:
  • If your child has never been on a swim team before, s/he must attend our New Swimmer Evaluation.  These will be held during the first two days of practice.
  • Each swimmer must be able to swim any stroke (including doggy paddle), at least 25 yards (one length of the pool) and demonstrate they are not afraid of the water.

Registration details:
  • $125 per swimmer; this includes the team swim cap

Team Suit:
  • You can purchase the suit at Pools, Patios, and Porches in Frederick or online. We will be using a solid black functional suit this year - any brand is fine.  If you have go to PPP for a fitting please purchase your suit directly from them.
  • If the team suit is cost prohibitive, a solid black suit is acceptable.

Practices:

Meets:
  • Check in for meets is usually at 7 a.m., and they typically conclude noon -- except for Divisionals and All Stars.
Volunteers:
  • We are a 100% volunteer team so parents are required to help at every meet and at the All Star meet.
