Overview of Program Offerings

Capital FC has designed age appropriate programs that help develop each individual player to their highest potential. In partnership with Coerver® Coaching, “the world’s number 1 soccer skills teaching method,” all our programs place high emphasis on developing individual skill necessary for playing the modern game.

MIGHTY MITES U4-5 (players under 4 and 5)

Capital FC’s Mighty Mites program is designed to give players the best start in soccer. Offered in the fall and the spring, Mighty Mites builds the essential foundations young players need before they step into organized, competitive team play. Program is offered once in the fall and once in the spring. It consists of a 1-hour session on Saturday mornings for eight weeks. Parent involvement is encouraged.

Program goals:
To help children develop self-confidence and a love of soccer.
To develop important foundation skills with a focus on ball mastery, striking/shooting, and how to play in small-sided games.
To develop listening skills, extended concentration, speedy reactions, as well as core social skills of communication and cooperation.
TO HAVE FUN!

JUNIORS K-4th

The Capital FC Juniors Program is a technical development program for youth soccer players that includes both practices and games. Every component of the program is aimed at developing confident and creative players while teaching essential social skills such as good sportsmanship and respect. Program consists of eight weeks of Coerver Academy sessions, team training sessions run by CFC volunteer coaches, and Saturday in-house game play. The Juniors Program is offered in both the fall and the spring.

Program goals:

To help children develop self-confidence and a love of soccer.
To develop important foundation skills with a focus on ball mastery, striking/shooting, and how to play in small-sided games.

To introduce basic attacking/defending concepts in 3v3, 5v5, and 7v7 formats during game play.

JUNIORS 5th-8th

Capital FC’s recreational program gives an opportunity for U11-14 players and families who do not choose the competitive track to enjoy playing soccer and develop their skill. Our recreational program still places an emphasis on skill development because we believe that the more skilled you are, the more fun the game can be! The U11-14 Recreational program is offered in the fall and the spring for eight weeks and includes Coerver Academy training, volunteer coaching staff, and weekend game play in the Mid Valley Soccer League. Games are played at CFC’s complex as well as at other venues in the valley such as Dallas, Silverton, and Keizer.

Program goals:

To help children develop self-confidence and a love of soccer.
To create a fun environment for players and families to enjoy the game.
To develop each player’s individual skill with a focus on applying the skill into game situations.
Through volunteer coaches, to give players a basic knowledge of team attacking and defending concepts.
To foster a love of the game that will last for a lifetime.

PRE-COMPETITIVE U9-U10

Capital FC’s U9-U10 Pre-Competitive Program is for players who have developed a love for the game and are serious about becoming better soccer players. Our intent is to provide a competitive but not exclusive environment for these developing youngsters. All elements of the Pre-Competitive Program have been designed to push and develop these players through more advanced, professional coaching as well as a higher level of competition in tournaments and league play with teams from around the state. We are asking parents and players for a year-round commitment that includes travel and a higher cost.

Program Goals:

To prepare players for entrance into the U11 Competitive Program by:
Developing individual technique and 1v1 skills.
Laying the foundation for tactical insight and an understanding of how each position relates to the team objectives.
Moving from a recreational mindset to a more competitive mindset.
To introduce parents to the demands and commitment level of the competitive program (travel, cost, time).
To foster a love of the game in players that develops internal motivation to improve and continue playing long into the future.

COMPETITIVE U11-U14

The goal of the competitive program is to give each individual player the tools to make his or her stamp on the game. Our professional coaching staff works with players year-round to improve each player’s technical ability, decision-making, team play, and character. This program has higher fees and a larger time commitment for those who choose to participate. The program begins with tryouts in May. Selected players will be asked to make a 12-month commitment to the club.

Program goals:

To continue developing individual technique with an emphasis on good decision making.
To teach positional play as it relates 9v9 and 11v11.
To help players understand basic team attacking and defending concepts.
To create a training environment that promotes hard work and self-improvement.
To foster a love of the game in players that develops internal motivation to improve on their own and continue playing long into the future.

HIGH SCHOOL COMPETITIVE U15-U19

The High School Competitive Program is designed for the elite player who wishes to continue playing at a higher level. Our professional coaching staff are equipped to help develop individual players who can succeed in the future, whether that be in college, the Timbers Academy, or other playing opportunities. The program begins with tryouts in August, takes a break for the High School season, and continues from November through July.

Program goals:

To refine technical skill as it relates to game play, with an emphasis on good decision making.
To help players succeed in their primary position on the field as well as have a basic knowledge of the roles of the other positions as it relates to the 1-4-3-3 and 1-4-4-2.
To give players a comprehensive understanding of the team’s role in all phases of the game (in attack, in defense, transition to attack, transition to defend).
To teach players the psychological tools for peak performance.
To improve each player’s strength, speed, agility, and endurance – and to give them the tools to be able to do this on their own.
To teach players how to win games and develop a winning mentality.
To give players the tools they need to pursue their playing careers beyond the club.
