Oceanway Sports Association
Parent and Player Code of Conduct
Welcome to another exciting year of baseball at Oceanway Sports Association. OSA is committed to providing your player a safe and healthy environment in which to participate in our offered athletic programs. Along with our parent organization, Babe Ruth League, we stress the importance of good sportsmanship and teamwork in addition to striving to teach the fundamentals skills of baseball. As our number one priority is the safety of our Players, our Coaches, our families in the stands and the Officials; please keep in mind that you are responsible for not only your behavior, but also that of your player and any guest(s) that you may invite to the park.
The following guidelines are provided to remind you how you can assist OSA in accomplishing these goals:
1. We are all volunteers. If you have a disagreement, do not discuss it in front of the players.
2. We must respect the umpires and officials at all time. Teach your players to do the same
3. Players need encouragement, negativity will cause your player to be less enthusiastic about playing the game
4. Managers, coaches, parents must be respectful with remarks and actions
5. We must show respect to each other
6. Parent or legal guardian should remain with player at all team events, unless Head Coach is aware of absence
OSA will NOT tolerate inappropriate behavior. Consequently, if at any event a person verbally abuses, attempts to intimidate, lacks control over their language or actions towards a player, coach, official or any other parent or volunteer; that person will be asked to leave the event by either an Umpire, OSA official, and/or (as a last resort) local Sheriff’s office and will receive a written warning and a minimum of a one game suspension. All incidents will be reviewed by the OSA Disciplinary Committee and potential suspensions could be recommended. If a second offense occurs, the individual will be banned for a minimum of the remainder of the season with potential for additional suspension if deemed by the OSA Disciplinary Committee due to circumstances.
Note:
Any person(s) who physically assaults any player, coach, official, volunteer, or spectator will be automatically banned from OSA for a minimum of one (1) full year and possibly longer depending on circumstances. Physical assault includes, but is not limited to: hitting, slapping, pushing, spitting, kicking, shaking or striking. If you are involved in any incident or witness to an incident you should contact your league commissioner.
Should any other problems arise, please contact in the following order (skipping over the person(s) involved, if applicable)
1. Head Coach
2. Division Director
3. OSA Board Member
4. Vice President
5. President
