Colorado Gives Day 2016 Recap!
Thanks to everyone in our Storm community that participated on Colorado Gives Day and chose to support Storm’s Scholarship Fund! We are excited to let you know that together we were able to raise $8,845 in online donations and pledged employer match contributions! As you know, these funds are used for Storm’s need-based Scholarship Fund providing participation opportunities for kids with limited financial resources. Your contribution makes it possible for our scholarship players to experience the joy of sport, compete with their friends, and build life skills that will last them a lifetime! Thanks for choosing to make a difference!
Storm Member Spotlight
To kick off the new year, we would like to recognize a special member of the Storm community, Christian Watts. The dad of a Storm player, Christian chose to get even more involved by serving as a referee. As Christian says, “Getting paid to referee and work with kids is a great gig!” But his commitment goes deeper than that. “The reason I work as a referee is for the players and for the good of the game. Reaching out and having a positive impact on individual players, while helping to bring soccer to a wider community, is a way to take that commitment to the next level.”
But that’s not the whole story. Christian also believes in the power of impacting others. So in order to give back, he has donated all of his referee earning for both the spring and fall 2016 seasons to Storm’s need-based Scholarship Fund. The total? Just over $2,400! Why? According to Christian: “It is a privilege to be able to help folks out whenever, wherever and however we can. Paying it forward has benefits we can't predict, and sometimes don't ever know about. But we do know that we're leaving things better than we found them.”
Thank you, Christian, for your amazing generosity and for choosing to make a difference! Your actions are truly an inspiration to our entire Storm community!
