Fun Fall Soccer in The Fort

Fun Fall Soccer in “The Fort”

Co Storm FC had a blast with their Developmental League this fall! The great weather helped make for a wonderful league of week night games on (U5-U6) Tuesday and (U7-U11) Friday nights. This season, we added in some special themes during weeks 4-8, to give the kids and parents some extra fun alongside the games.  We hosted a Fun Soccer Skills Night with Coach Owen Darby where kids were awarded prizes and free pizza (compliments of our local sponsor Goings Orthodontics) for their participation.  Our highlight was the goal celebration won by one of the brothers of a player. (See photo- coach Owen Darby with Storm Goal celebration winner).  We also featured a Crazy Hair Night, Selfie Night and a fun finish with Halloween; we enjoyed every bit of it!

Along with the other Storm regions, we offered a Referee Mentoring Program this past Fall.  Ours allowed young referees the opportunity to volunteer ref during our Friday night league games and earn credit (from a Colorado Soccer Association grant) to help cover costs of their grade 9 online certification course. This program required 12 volunteer hours to be completed by each referee. We had 9 Storm FC players complete this program and become certified this Fall.  It was great to have the players show interested and display leadership working with the younger player in the program as Friday night volunteer referees.

Thanks to coaches, parents, players, volunteers and staff for helping make this league a great one and we look forward to seeing you all in the spring for some more fun together on (and off) the soccer fields!
