Preliminary State Pageants:

A delegate is required to enter into a state preliminary pageant to qualify for the All American Miss Dance® National Pageant.

Preliminary pageant entrant agrees to look solely to the preliminary Pageant Director with respect to all matters relating to her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process, and all other matters relating to the preliminary pageant. , its members, managers, agents and employees are not liable to entrant for anything whatsoever in connection with the preliminary pageant.

Entrant agrees to attend the American Miss Dance® pageant if selected as the winner in a preliminary pageant and further abide by all the required services, rules and regulations governing this pageant.

Winner of a preliminary pageants is not eligible to re-compete in the same preliminary pageant.

Winner of preliminary pageants may re-enter the national pageant as an at-large delegate once she has fulfilled her obligations as specified by the rules and regulations of the preliminary pageant.

Participants of preliminary pageants who are not named as the winning titleholder(s) may apply to become an at-large delegate following the conclusion of the preliminary pageant.

Delegates may qualify for more than one preliminary, the following is what is generally determined in a Delegates participation in a preliminary pageant:

Eligibility for at-large state titles are determined by meeting at least one of the following criteria:

Current residency, employment, student status, property owner or born in the state.

Returning Delegates:

Former national overall winners of American Miss Dance are not eligible to compete for the same title. Overall winners most wait until they are in a different age division. State delegates may re-enter the national pageant from year to year.

Winners of preliminary pageants are not eligible to re-compete for the same state title unless approved by the director, she may only enter under another state or regional title.

Commercial Tie-Up:

Entrant may have a dance, commercial tie-up, personal management and/or agency contract, which contract however does not include, authorize or permit the use of the name of the American Miss Dance Pageant, or any other registered trademark or trade name of or any title designation or reference with respect to the pageant in any manner.

Eligibility / Acceptance Determination Agreement:

All issues as to eligibility shall be determined solely and exclusively by American Miss Dance Pageant. Entrant agrees to abide by eligibility determination both as to herself and others. Entrant agrees to produce an original copy of her birth certificate to verify age and gender upon request. Entrant agrees to produce a color copy of her U.S. Passport or application of her U.S. Passport prior to the National Pageant. Reserves the right to refuse entry into the American Miss Dance to anyone for any reason.

COMPETITION JUDGING

American Miss Dance® is a traditional dance competition and beauty pageant intertwined for young ladies of the U.S. who are ages 7-27. Areas of competition include: Opening Number, Modeling, Dancing and Formal Wear. Finalists (Top 15)  will re-compete on-stage at the showcase performance at Nationals to see who will become the Next All-American Miss Dance. 


PRELIMINARY SHOW

The American Miss Dance Preliminary Pageant will consist of a Dance competition segment which will be weighted at 50% and an Beauty/Formal Wear competition segment which will be weighted at 50%

Dance (50%).

American Miss Dance must exemplify proud physical, emotional and intellectual health. Winner should be physically fit, great technique and lots of confidence and encouraging to other contestants.

  1. Delegates can compete in a 1-piece or 2-piece costume. 
  2. Costumes may have cut-outs, mesh, and/or embellishments 
  3. Costumes must be in good taste. No tights and bare feet are allowed. 

          Judging criteria: Artistic, Talented, Creative and Memorable

20%Formal Wear & 20%Out fit of Choice (Together): (40%).

American Miss Dance® must carry herself with dignity, grace, poise and elegance. Judges will not be evaluating the cost or designer label of the gown, but rather how well it suits the delegate (e.g., fit, color, style) as well as delegate's on-stage presentation.

  1. Evening gown must be floor length. (Teen and Senior Division)
  2. Party wear dress with white socks and white shoes are required for ages 7-10 (Junior Division)
  3. Junior’s turning into teens are allowed to wear whichever option they choose, as long as its age appropriate.

           Judging criteria: Modeling, Personality, Beauty, Grooming and Fashion sense.

Ambassador (10%).
American Miss Dance must be able to express herself with confidence.State finalists may travel with the AMD team and “MC” on-stage. The Ambassador award is treated like a title winner and will have to step in as needed.

FINAL SHOW

The American Miss Dance® will consist of an Opening Number segment (not judged), Outfit of Choice: competition segment which will be weighted at 10%, a Formal Wear competition segment which will be weighted at 45% and an Dance competition segment which will be weighted at 45%

Opening Production Number (not judged). The American Miss Dance will include a choreographed opening number. Delegates shall wear the designated color for opening number as specified by American Miss Dance® National Pageant. Information about the 2014 Opening Production Number and required attired to be posted when available. The Opening Production Number is not judged.

JUDGING

  1. A minimum of 4 judges will evaluate delegates in the areas of competition 
  2. Reasonable efforts are made to secure a culturally and professionally diverse panel of judges. 
  3. Judges' names are not released to delegates prior to arrival at the pageant. 
  4. Delegates may not approach the judges or engage in conversation with judges prior to or during the competition. Delegates who are observed approaching a judge or engage in conversation with a judge beyond a brief greeting risk immediate disqualification at the discretion of interacting.
  5. Judges are provided with training and instruction regarding scoring procedures prior to the competition. 
  6. The decision of the judges is final and not contestable for any reason. 

SCORING: Scoring is conducted on a 10-point scale:

  1. 9-10 = Excellent
    7-8 = Very Good
    5-6 = Good
    3-4 = Average
    1-2 = Below Average 

BREAKING TIES:

The following procedure is used to break ties:

  1. Each judge will assign the Top 5 finalists a ranking from 1 to 5 (1 = “Winner”, 5 = “4th Runner-Up”.) A ranking of 1st = 5 pts, 2nd = 4 pts, 3rd = 3 pts, 4th = 2 pts, 5th = 1 pt. Points earned from rankings are added to the delegates’ scores.
    If the rankings do not resolve the tie(s), the higher individual competition score will determine the higher placement in this order: Dance, Formal Wear and Outfit of Choice.
    If there are ties for Semi-Finalists positions, then the higher of the Dance, Formal Wear and Outfit of Choice will be used to break the tie.

STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT:

ENTRY FEE / PAYMENTS

An entry fee is required to enter the American Miss Dance Pageant® as a delegate. The fee amount is advertised at the American Miss Dance® website. Delegate may seek sponsors or may pay the entry fee herself. Payment may be made by personal check, money order, or credit card by calling over the phone. Delegates may make payments toward the total entry fee. Payments of any amount must be made at least every 30 days until the total fee is received. Failure to remit payment every 30 days may result in loss of title and fees paid.The American Miss Dance® is self-supporting and relies solely upon fees to cover production expenses. Production expenses include but are not limited to: advertising, hotel rentals, performers’ fees, judges' expenses, staging, supplies, prizes, awards, etc. A significant percentage of the entry fee is directed back to each delegate in the form of crown, sash, meals, entertainment, parties, gifts, and prizes.

REFUND POLICY
All fees paid to American Miss Dance Pageant® are NOT REFUNDABLE and NOT TRANSFERABLE  in full or in part for under any circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to entry fees, advertising fees, pageant admission ticket sales fees, guest meal fees and any other fees paid to American Miss Dance by anyone including, but not limited to, delegates, sponsors, and advertisers.

DEADLINES
The entry deadlines are posted in the American Miss Dance® paperwork. Entry fees must be paid in full by the final entry deadline. Preliminary pageants must be concluded by the entry deadline. There will be no exceptions under any circumstances. All required delegate paperwork (e.g., Biographical Information Form, etc.) must be complete and received by the paperwork deadline which is posted in the paperwork. Required headshot photo for the Official Program Book must be received by the deadline which is posted in the paperwork. The official deadline is usually three months before American Miss Dance® comes to your state. No later! All deadlines are strictly enforced and must be adhered to by the entrant and preliminary pageant director. Entrant (and director, if applicable) understands and agrees to the following penalty for late submission of required items, including paperwork, photography and full payment of fees by posted deadlines: A total of 1 point per day per late item is deducted from delegate’s total score.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Photography. Entrant must submit a headshot photo for the American Miss Dance® website and Program Book Photo.
Attire. Delegates provide their own competition attire. Other wardrobe requirements will be posted on the pageant website.
Travel. Delegates make their own travel arrangements. , is not responsible for arranging travel or intervening / resolving disputes involving travel to the host site for the pageant competition.
Hotel. Delegates are required to stay at the host hotel (There will be no shuttle or bus provided to and from the hotel). Delegates family members and friends must make their own hotel reservations unless their under your package.

CODE OF CONDUCT
Entrant affirms that she is and will continue to be a person of good moral character; that she has not committed and will not commit any act inconsistent with the highest standards of public morals and conventions or that will reflect unfavorably on the pageant, its representatives, sponsors and/or licensees; that she has not appeared in nude or provocative photographs for any film or publication prior to, during the pageant finals, or during her reign should she become a Preliminary Winner or at-large delegate. Delegate will conduct herself in a courteous, professional manner at all times during the American Miss Dance® and while representing a American Miss Dance® title. Delegate will not slander or libel other contestants, judges, staff or anyone else involved with or connected to the American Miss Dance®. Defamatory verbal and/or written remarks against and the American Miss Dance Pageant System will result in immediate disqualification, forfeiture of any and all prizes and awards won, and legal charges. Any delegate found publicly posting slanderous remarks on public forums will be immediately disqualified. Good sportsmanship is expected at all times. Disruptive behavior before, during, or after the pageant may result in disqualification, removal from the premises, and legal charges. Delegate agrees to sign a Code of Conduct statement indicating agreement to abide by the terms specified here. Failure to sign the Code of Conduct statement does not in any way release delegate from responsibility to abide by the Code of Conduct stated here. All issues related to the Code of Conduct and consequences for violation thereof shall be determined solely and exclusively by. Entrant agrees to accept such determinations made by . both as to herself and others.

PARTICIPATION IN NATIONAL PAGEANT EVENTS

Delegates are expected to be on time and present for all scheduled rehearsals and events leading up to and during the pageant finals. Delegates will lose 1 point for each unexcused missed event. In the event of illness, a delegate may be excused from attending an event. Tanisha Monet Alexander, Director is the only individual with the authority to release a delegate from a scheduled event.

WINNER'S CONTRACT

If selected as a Overall American Miss Dance or All-American Miss Dance, delegate agrees to sign a contract stating agreement to arrange and make a minimum of fifteen appearances throughout her year’s reign. Appearances may include but are not limited to parades; radio, television and public appearances at events. Winners are expected to provide with photos of appearances for the American Miss Dance® website and promotion. If delegate is unwilling to sign the contract and/or unable or unwilling to fulfill the obligations, the title won and all prizes will be awarded to the first runner up.

The reign of American Miss Dance winner and the Showcase “All-American Miss Dance will commence immediately after crowning and will end immediately following the crowning of their successor. The All-American agrees to make monthly contact with American Miss Dance® National Pageant by phone, letter, fax or e-mail. All-American Miss Dance agrees to provide American Miss Dance® National Pageant, with photocopies of articles pertaining to her reign and pictures of appearances for the pageant history scrapbook. Overall Title Winners agree that she will not enter any other pageant or compete for any other titles during her year’s reign without the prior written permission from American Miss Dance® National Pageant. The All-American Miss Dance title is the overall winner's main pageant-related priority. Winner is expected to give her time and energy to this title and this title only during their year’s reign. Permission for American Miss Dance to participate in other pageants will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Winner may have a modeling, commercial tie-up, personal management and/or agency contract, which contract however does not include, authorize or permit the use of the name of the American Miss Dance®, or any other registered trade name, trademark or logo of American Miss Dance® National Pageant, or any title designation or reference with respect to the pageant in any manner. Overall title winners in each age division, agrees to attend the next year’s pageant to crown her successor. Winner's travel, lodging, and meal expenses will be arranged for and paid by American Miss Dance® National Pageant.

STATEMENT OF UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT:

Publicity and Promotion: By virtue of participation in the American Miss Dance, delegate agrees to allow American Miss Dance® National Pageant, the right to use her name, likeness, voice and/or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion now and in the future. Delegate understands that her name, likeness, voice, and/or biographical information may be used on the internet, in print advertising, press releases and merchandise related to the  American Miss Dance organization (e.g., t-shirts, tote bags, hats, other apparel, mouse pads, and other promotional materials.) Delegate agrees to release to American Miss Dance. From liability for any injury resulting from publicity and promotion. Delegate agrees to waive any and all compensation for use of her name, likeness, voice, and /or biographical information for purposes of publicity and promotion.
Photography & Videography. Delegates and their families are permitted to take photos and video during events leading up to the on-stage pageant competition event. Cameras or videography will not be allowed during any on-stage competition events. Individuals who fail to comply with this rule will be asked to leave the venue without benefit of refund for admission ticket. Professional photography and videography will be made available by the Official American Miss Dance Pageant Photographer and Videographer.
Disqualification / Title Relinquishment. If delegate is disqualified or relinquishes, for any reason, any title awarded to her, all prizes must be returned in full, and in condition received. If, for any reason, the winner resigns or is disqualified, the 1st runner-up will assume the title and all prizes.

Limitation of Liability / Responsibility. American Miss Dance organization, its officers, director, agents and employees are not liable to entrant for anything whatsoever in connection with any preliminary pageant leading to the American Miss Dance®. Preliminary pageant entrant agrees to look solely to the preliminary Pageant Director or Manager with respect to all matters relating to her application, rules, regulations, policies, preparation, rehearsal, performance and selection process, and all other matters relating to the preliminary pageant. Its officers, employees, and pageant personnel are not responsible for accidents, injury or theft incurred at the time of the or travel to and from.

1.) American Miss Dance® is not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of pageant sponsors, judges, or contract vendors (e.g., photographer, videographer, etc.) who may be providing products or services to delegates at the American Miss Dance Pageant

2.) American Miss Dance® is not responsible for negligence or fraud on the part of the host hotel.

3.) American Miss Dance® is not responsible for arranging travel or intervening / resolving disputes surrounding travel to the host location for the pageant competition.

4.) American Miss Dance Org. is not responsible for loss, theft, or damage caused to any and all prizes, gifts, and awards bestowed upon entrant after these items become the property of entrant. Entrant agrees to incur replacement and/or repair costs to lost, stolen, or damaged items including but not limited to: crown/tiara, sash, plaques, trophies, etc.

Agreement. By submitting the entry form and fee(s) to American Miss Dance®, or Director of the AMD pageant system leading to the American Miss Dance National Pageant, delegate agrees to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by American Miss Dance National Pageant. Participation in the American Miss Dance National Pageant also indicates acceptance and agreement to abide by all policies, rules and regulations set forth by American Miss Dance National Pageant. Delegate attests that all information submitted to, is true and accurate. Falsification of information and failure to comply with the policies of American Miss Dance®, may result in immediate disqualification and/or forfeiture of prizes won without benefit of refund in full or in part at the sole discretion of American Miss Dance National Pageant®
