XPro Hockey was formed in 2011 by former NHL'er Alex Hicks and Minor League professional John Kosobud. Both Alex and John share 2 things in common. Both of their own kids play the game and both share an undeniable passion for hockey.
After coaching their kids' youth teams together for 3 seasons through Squirts and Peewees, they began to build a following of players determined to achieve success just as they coached. On this principle, XPro Hockey was created to allow motivated and determined players the opportunity to advance their skills in the game of hockey outside of their regular season. From there, Alex and John began building weekly skills sessions, skating & skills camps, and pre-tryout clinics for players in the metro Phoenix area.
In the summer of 2012, John moved back to his hometown area, Fargo, ND-Moorhead, MN to be closer to family. There he met up with long time friend and youth hockey coach, Chad Weisgram and XPro was off and running again in the F-M area. Through Chad's commitment and dedication to young players in the area, the program has grown tremendously. "We've assembled a great group of coaches and kids who share the same passion for the game, and its worked well.", says, Weisgram.
Chad and his wife Jennifer, along with their two kids, Spencer and Tyler, reside in Fargo. Chad's drive and passion for the game of hockey is shown by his commitment to each player achieving the goals.
John has two kids, son Carson, and daughter Kate, along with his wife Sara. Even though John his not actively coaching winter teams any longer he stays involved with spring & summer hockey through XPro and enjoys watching his son's team play as well as helping his daughter learn the game.
Alex remains in Scottsdale, AZ with his family. Wife, Sarah, daughters, Madison and Logan, and son Luke. For the past 4 years, Alex served as Assistant Hockey Director at Desert Youth Hockey Association in Tempe, Arizona where he has overseen the travel program and coaches. Recently, Alex was named Assistant Coach of the newly announced D1 Arizona State University Sun Devils. He contributes to the program as a full time Coach and Recruiter as ASU transitions from ACHA to NCAA Division 1 status. He recently coached travel teams including the 2000 Bantam AAA Phoenix Firebirds which his son Luke plays on. His daughter Madison is currently in college and plays Lacrosse for Lindenwood University. Daughter, Logan is a standout hockey and lacrosse player and has committed to Syracruse University for both hockey and lacrosse.
Even though Alex and John are thousands of miles away from each other, they still find ways to help kids reach their hockey dreams and fuel the fire of the game inside them. Together, along with a core group of coaches, they are working to provide players the best opportunities to succeed at the game of hockey.
