Our History
Cedar Hill has a long-standing tradition of girls softball, dating back to as early as 1968. Inspired by the success of the Cedar Hill Women’s League and local girls teams, a group of dedicated community members came together in 1974 to formally establish the Cedar Hill Girls Softball Association (CHGSA).
The association’s first board of officers included:
President: W.C. Knight
Vice President: David Bailey
Secretary & Treasurer: Vicki Bell
Board Members: Bob Wright, Joe Pitt, Buddy Nicholson, Ronnie LaRue, Lou Ann Lipe, and Jeannie Baucum
That inaugural season, registration was held at City Hall for just $5. CHGSA began with three age divisions:
Today, CHGSA continues to grow and serve the youth of our community, offering girls a chance to develop skills, compete with pride, and build lasting friendships through the game of softball.
