Tee Ball
Tee ball provides basic fundamentals of the game and introduces players to the concept of team play. This is a non-competitive league with both girls and boys on the same team. Players hit off a batting tee and players come to bat each inning. Scores and team standings are not kept.
Games: Saturday mornings

A Minors Baseball (Tee / Coach Pitch)
Tee / Coach Pitch is a non-competitive, instructional division, and will require children to have played at least one year of Tee Ball. Players will start to learn how to hit a pitched ball. Coaches will pitch to their own team and basic skills are taught and refined as players gain a better understanding of the game. Players may use a tee at the beginning of the season as they continue to learn how to hit a pitched ball. Players will play multiple positions. Players, league age 5, are eligible to participate in this division if they have completed one year in Tee ball and are ready to learn how to hit a pitched ball, and understand more about the fundamentals of baseball. This division is more competitive than Tee ball. Teams will play other teams within Lyme / Old Lyme Little League.
Games: 2 per week

AA Minors Baseball (Kid Pitch - In town)
Kid Pitch is a developmental league. This is a competitive league played with a regulation hard ball and live pitching is a key component of the game. Additional strategies and tactics such as bunting, stealing, cut-off plays, etc. may be introduced throughout the year. Boys age 8 are eligible to tryout for Kid Pitch if they have completed at least one year in Coach Pitch and are ready to play at a more competitive level.
Regular season games will be played with other district towns.
Games: 2 per week (Games will be played in Old Lyme and other district towns)
Practice: 1 per week

AAA Minors Baseball (Kid Pitch - Travel)
Kid Pitch is a developmental league and will require tryouts. This is a competitive league played with a regulation hard ball and live pitching is a key component of the game. Players should be able to hit a pitched ball and field ground and fly balls with some regularity and confidence. Players should know the rules and tactics of competitive baseball. Additional strategies and tactics such as bunting, stealing, cut-off plays, etc. will be introduced throughout the year. Boys age 8 are eligible to tryout for Kid Pitch if they have completed at least one year in Coach Pitch and are ready to play at a more competitive level.
Regular season games will be played with other district towns.

Practice: 1 per week

Majors Baseball
Major League Baseball is a competitive, advanced play league with strong competition. Play and pitching is much higher than that at the Kid and Coach Pitch level. Scores and standings will be kept and a year-end tournament is played to determine a league champion.
Regular season games will be played with other district towns.
All-star teams are selected at the end of the year to represent LOL in the district tournament. Tryouts are mandatory for all players (other than returning major league players). If a player does not make the Major League, they will be placed on a Kid Pitch Team.
Games: 2-3 per week (Games will be played in Old Lyme and other district towns)
Practice: 1-2 per week

Intermediate Baseball (50/70)
Intermediate League Baseball is a competitive, advanced play league with strong competition. Play and pitching is higher than that at the Majors level. Players will play on a field larger than the Majors field, but not as large as regulation baseball field; the pitching mound is at 50' from home plate as opposed to 45' for Majors; bases are 70' apart as opposed to 60' in Majors.
Regular season games will be played with other surrounding towns who participate in the Intermediate division.
All-star teams are selected at the end of the year to represent LOL in the district tournament. Tryouts are mandatory for all players.
Games: 2-3 per week (Games will be played in Old Lyme and at other district town fields)
Practice: 2-3 per week
