Coaches will be selected and assigned to teams in early March. After being contacted by a Board Member Age Group Coordinator and prior  to the Coaches Meeting, there are three requirements each coach must complete. 

Volunteer Screening Background Check

• All coaches and assistant coaches must fill out a Volunteer Application annually.

Concussion Training Certification

• A free, one hour online training course is available through the NFHS and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The course highlights the impact of sports-related concussion on athletes, teaches how to recognize a suspected concussion, and provides protocols to manage a suspected concussion with steps to help players return to play safely after a concussion. Coaches must complete this course once every three years.

Lindsay's Law: Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Youth Athletes 

• AJSL coaches are required by Ohio law to review the resources below about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.

AJSL can not permit coaches to hold or participate in practices until these steps are complete.
